I voted GT4. But GT2 may be my fave of that series (due to variety of cars etc) and TOCA 2 is my fave of that series. Mmm, Tiff Needel commentating.

Mr Revhead wrote:im actually very surprised that theres ppl who prefer the dynamics of gt4 vs V8S... i honestly found the driving dynamics of GT4 to be very sub par compared to GT2, let alone a more modern game

so i'm going to try some GT4 tonight and re-evaluate

If it's FWD 9/10 it'll handle like poo. But 4WD's and RWD's, with the right settings can handle nicely.

handling dynamics of v8sc are crap. You can head into a corner full nuts try to lift off over steer hit the gas again and get no tail action. much prefer sim style races, You havnt played a descent car game untill your setup with GTL, GTR or LFS and a logitec G25 wheel pedals and shifter. GT4 isnt to bad with G25 either.

well, been playing GT4 a bit over the last week

there is definitly no question, as far as realisim goes GT4 is just plain rubbish
it's as if the ppl in charge of the dynamics have never even driven a car before :?

Which is weird because iirc they spent alot of time trying to get the physics, sound etc right.

Have you found that certain cars handle better with stock suspension?

no, i have found it consistantly worse than anything else I have played in a very long time, cept gt3
i don't think they spent very long at all on physics and sound, the sound is no different from anything else

I can improve them lots by playing with settings etc. but come on, 700hp RWD and nothing but understeer...... in a Barracuda! and le mans cars...

yeah I agree GT3 was crap in terms of the dynamics between the car and the track surface- GT4 was definitely a step up in this regard. I also agree about the sound....probably due to the sheer number of cars included.

lol no im not kidding
as far as driving goes, GT4 is one of the most unrealistic i have ever played.
the only thing good about it the selection of cars, and some of the tracks., however those are let down majorly but the utterly crap dynamics. As i said before, its as if the guys in charge of the car handling have never even driven a car before.
I'll be trading it in at EB

Agree!

As does the poll at 84%..

GT4 wipes the floor with v8supercars. GT5P is better dynamics than forza2 and no doubt GT5 will thrash forza3..

Revhead, what do you play games on? console and screen size if ya can>

99% of those voters haven't even played V8s and admit it in their posts

for simple dynamics and realism of control etc, GT4 isnt even in the same book as V8s. I've playing it again for the last few weeks, and yep. i stand by my original impressions. GT4 was made by ppl who have never played with cars and have no idea of how they work or what effects changes have on cars.
I mean heres two examples... 800hp RWD yank tank, and over steer is impossible.... or how about the tail happy Ginetta G4.... lift off oversteer all over the place. so Stiffen the rear to see what happens (bar, shocks and springs) and wtf... over steer goes away

PS2 and oldschool 21"!

Blergh GT5 Prologue is still not a match for Forza2 at all, the cars still feel vague and detached.

I hate to admit it since I am a long time GT fan but my relatively recent Forza forays have definitely proven it the better driving sim. Even with regards to laptimes, on GT everything seems to be a lot faster relative to its real world counterparts too.

There's a lot of people who'll pick GT just because of the franchise, it's what they're used to and what they're comfortable with, in much the same vein as people thinking 20Vs are fast :P

To re-ignite an old thread, I have played both games & am going with GT4 as the variety of cars is awesum.

Forza Motorsport series beats both of them hands down though. Even Forza 1 was better than GT4 physics wise, and Forza 3 is even better again.

would you put gt4 ahead of V8's on physics etc?
I know the variety of cars and aspects of game play suit others more than the race series format of V8's, but to me the more realistic car handling etc does it for me

rFactor > Everything else in terms of physics.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.
