Taupo trackday- FULL track - Saturday 15/8/09

Location: Taupo Centennial Park Raceway
Date Saturday 15th of August 2009
Time -8.00am - 4.30pm
Track – Track 4 – Full track ! ! ! !
Cost - $160 before the 24th July 2009
ANY LATER then 24th of July $200



Track Day Programme

8.00am Gates open, please be there early so we can get more time racing . Car inspection
9.00am Driver Briefing
9.15am Track 1 Cruise Tour - everyone will go around the track for 3 laps
9:30am Track opens for racing
12:30pm Lunch.
1:00pm Restart
4.30pm Track & pits must be clean and everyone off the venue

Competitors need to be scrutinized before the drivers briefing. Get to the track early!



Drivers requirements for the day.

Basic requirements for the street cars at the track day are:

- Warrant of Fitness
- Battery secure
- Checks in engine bay for water leaks or oil leaks
- Checks body parts - make sure nothing will come off the car ( eg. bonnet, Spoiler, canards or diffuser )
- General Checks
- Exhaust noise level: There is a noise limit at the track. Not sure if a BC spec2 will pass but got told before it wont . . don't think anyone will be running that


Wear and Safety

Helmet: Up to your personal preference, open face or full face, no cycle helmets

Overalls: Race suit or cotton (mechanic style) overalls.

Fire Extinguisher: Not a must have but prefer to have one fitted, we will offer you guys some at a cheaper price ( will be posted shortly )
Is only 30 to 40 dollars at Super Cheap Auto, and make sure is metal bracket

If you have one fitted make sure if till showing green on the indicator which means is in good working order


Rules


1)No Drifting
2) Speed Limit 40km/hr in pit lane.
3) No ALCOHOL at all time within the premisies

Whats the deal with passengers? One per car so long as they have a helmet and overalls, or is a rollcage required?

this is not official, but as long as the passenger has helmet and overalls and signed the trackday form. it is ok.
the track keeper had said it was ok for the last two trackdays we have hosted.

Ooooh, would hate to be the organiser of that track day....

I'm assuming the police didn't show up.

They have a habit of doing that, as when an ambulance is called, often a police car turns up with it, despite it being a motor vehicle accident on a race track.

They've even tried to shut down race meetings mid meeting.

If the police show up and get involved, there's always the risk that the organiser (or driver) could get prosecuted. That's what happened when there was a fatal at the old Queenstown street race, four officials were put to trial. Cost the sport many many many many many tens of thousands of dollars.

I didn't even see the ambulance was in the old part of the track though. But seeing as no one is mentioning it on nzhondas i would be waiting to see what happens i guess

My comment was based on if an ambulance was called it, rather than any observation that an ambulance attended So if there was no ambulance, that decreases the chance of police involvement initially.

Cant really say if they made a big deal about it but i think they have in order to get people to think twice about their speeds.

Ambulance came but didnt see it leave (may have been from the old part of the track).

They were talking about passenger having to be air lifted and driver not being able to talk for a little so no idea how bad it was, but from the look of the seats, the back of the both seats (fixed race seat driver) broke and the both would have been pushed to the rear of the car

Yup, once you break a seat, you're in a world of injury. One of the reasons I warn anyone who I see has one of those breakytastic Autosport "FIA" homologated seats (their FIA homologation was withdrawn after on retesting all the seats broke ... yet autosport continued labelling their seats as FIA for about the next five years).

Almost certainly stronger than the average road car recliner seat (probably), but still not at all as good a good competition seat
