anyone used a good vehicle valuation service?

Postby flygt4 » Sun Aug 23, 2009 7:44 pm

I'm going to need to get my vehicle valued properly, as its the fairest way to determine if I can afford to buy the ex out of the car or not.

has anyone used a good vehicle valuation service (I'm in wellington) or have any reccomendations?

Wholesale car's direct in Lower Hutt will do it for you. Just used them the other week. And will do it for a dozen instead of $45 to.
Just tell them you want it as low as possible and why, am I'm sure they can drop it a bit for you!

I'll value it for a dozen

Take the average asked for on trademe for the same vehicle in similar condition, then minus about 10%-20%. Should give a reasonably accurate number.

Or you could take your car to a bunch of car yards and ask them what they will buy it off you for... that will be a lower number. You don't want to know what a car yard would sell it for, cos only an idiot would pay that price.

turners auction comes back on carjam with what I think is a reasonable indication from the last 20 odd vehicles sold that were similar. but it'll have to be a fair and impartial valuation, hence the reason for it needing to be by a registered valuer.

Prices on carjam are only based on k's and year. They don't have anything to do with spec or condition so can't really use it as a guide.

Like what others have said, try local friendly car yard / dealer
