I do know some of the other car clubs over time have arranged a 'swap meet' of such with a large amount of parts.. i guess this would just be an online version of that ongoing :)

jappa swap meet would be mad awesome.

To be honest, I'm not really sure of how much benefit this would add for second hand parts. I can definitely see how it would help people that want to offer a service, or fabricate bits as a side thing but don't necessarily qualify for sponsorship.

An example might be someone who works a day job as an auto sparky and can rewire a silvertop loom to suit a AW11 with their eyes closed. That person could have a thread in the "Services and Fab" B/S/E sub forum advertising the things they can do and the prices they charge toyspeed, and the prices they charge public.

Another example would be bazdas turbo plenums and dizzy caps, or those oil catch cans that other guy is fabricating.

Maybe this could be a solution to the "do we need paid services?" question. A one-off charge of $10 would allow you to create a thread for your products and services in the forum (think like the projects forum, one thread for each person).

It would also be very easy to implement. A new subforum and a new user group with rights to create threads in that forum. Everyone would have rights to post (so that questions, comments and feedback can be posted). When someone pays thier $10 into the TS account and it clears, a mod just adds them to the thread creating group.

And that involves tracking accounts, committee meetings, auditing, and other requirements by our friends at the IRD :)

There doesnt need to be a money side of it, sponsors provide special pricing for toyspeed users, in return toyspeed allows the sponsor to promote their products via toyspeed forums. Sponsors make sales, users get better prices. Everyone wins.

I want something like this mod to list the bits & pieces I want to offer, what if I set it up on a website I have and use it myself, anyone is welcome to use it, it wont be as good but atleast some of us could test drive it properly and feel for its pros and cons.

Then it wouldnt affect the status quo
