I assume your caps are leaking? have you opened it up and seen any damage to the circuit board? how many are leaking and are you going to replace them all? Have you got the replacement caps?

If you want to send it down to me I can fix it.

I used to have some exchange, But I think I have sold them all.

If it's faulty it's usualy more than just replacing the caps as you need to repair the board damage as well.

PM me if your interested.

What did they want to charge you?

the caps are leaking. i think it has done some damage to the tracks as well, don't have any replacement caps, but they are not that expensive though?.

i have seen some online how to do guides that by pass the tracks by using a peice of wire soldered onto the leg of the cap and then onto the next component it goes to, and then hot glued down onto the pcb to secure it. what do you guys think of it? im not too clued up on these things..

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

From memory blacktop ecu's have something else that may go wrong with them (besides leaky capacitors) can't remember off the top of my head, but have a look in the Tech FAQ section as I believe it was covered in one of the links there,

Is the VVT chip that blows a big hole in the centre of the cap due to overheating.

I actually got a perfect condition ECU lying at home now for blacktop manual. But sold it on trademe, but the guy is yet to get in contact with me. If he don't get in touch with me by the weekend, you want it? give me a PM.

Cheers

Don't take it to an auto sparky, the place to take it to is someone who specialises in doing electronic repairs. A TV/whatever repair shop.

Shouldn't cost any more than $120 as it's only an hour and a half's job tops with $5 parts (for a Pro).

I normally do them for about $xx to repair.

Have not done a BT one yet but have done about 20 ST ones.
and 100's of Mitsi ones through work.
