hi i have a 1uz soarer. i have been told that i can bring the exhausts out in front of my rear wheel but behind the front doors because its a coupe.. so im guesing as long as its nt to loud its legal??? does any1 know about this??
I know of a supra that used to have quad side exhausts behind the doors with no legality issues. hard part is hiding the mufflers under the car as a conventional muffler looks crap and and probly won't fit out the sides.
yeah I remember that happening on that particular vehicle. thats if you're lucky, if you're unlucky the pipe will smash up into your sill and crack/damage it.
although it sounded like nothing else on earth under full throttle, you could literally hear the air being displaced from the engine.
(a) be of a good design using materials suitable for the purpose; and
(b) terminate in a position where the outer end of the exhaust pipe is not directly underneath the passenger compartment; and
(c) in the case of an external exhaust system which extends beyond the outer longitudinal extremity of the vehicle or the outer sidewall of the tyres, the exhaust system must:
(i) have a radius of no less than 3mm on any sections facing toward the front of the vehicle; and (ii) have any sections of exposed exhaust contactable from the front of the vehicle or adjacent to points of occupant entry and exit adequately heat-shielded.
If it meets the criteria then I see no reason why it shouldn't be allowed.
I think youll find that the rear seats in a soarer are behind the forward most part of the rear wheels (i.e. a rear passengers head sits just forward of the 12 'o clock spot on the wheel)
therefore exhaust is exiting before the last opening to the passenger compartment.
or maybe you could fail it under the one where fumes must be directed away from passenger compartment, or the one where it says it can be failed for exiting on the l/h side of the vehicle.
