I was looking through the NZ Reserve Bank exchange rate figures today. October 2007 Kiwis got JPY90.47 for their $1. Now they get JPY52.5 for the $1. Or, in other words we used to get 90.47 lollies, now we get only 52. To get that 90.47 lollies we would have to spend $1.72 - or 72% more - OUCH!

Another example, we sell Bride Zeta III seats for $1190, to buy it off-the-shelf, excluding shipping (and any other Customs fees) they are $1460 today (shipping is around NZ$200!).

Or another example of something cheap that is now expensive - Sard Fuel Pressure Regulators used to be $215 with us (2 left) but are now nearly $300 off-the-shelf from Japan, excluding shipping!

What makes it worse is that shipping is still charged at flat rates. If you ship a 10kg box from Japan you'd normally pay JPY18,000 odd - which used to be NZ$200. Now that's 18000 is still the same rate for 10kg, but it works out at $342! Ouch!

Unfortunately once we sell out of our stocked items we have no way to counter the 70% odd price rise due to the exchange rates with better discounts etc. So either get in now, or laybuy for later because the prices can't get any worse!

It might be a little prudent but probably won't matter with the price of the YEN these days, but we've got container shipping options at our check out now on our site. On small heavy items you can shed up to 40% off the total cost of the part, such as brake rotors / pads, engine blocks etc. On large items such as body kits / hoods you can shed about 25% off the total cost.

I know with the YEN making everything over 100% more expensive it only helps a little, but you're going to have to wait at least a year, more realistically 4 before then Yen gets back up in it's cycle again!
