Hes had more than one car
Last year he had the white newer Starlet - same one he raced at Rally Canterbury a few months ago. Assume its the same for this event? (wouldn't be ages ago now?)

he did have the fwd starlet but it kept breaking, now he has an evo 3 which is putting out some decent power and he also just finished nelson rally in it winning class e

So he did and so he is..... ( My bad! In my defence he changed his entry since I wrote the above)
Kevin Lynch
Greymouth
Mitsubishi Evo 3
Rally 4WD
re: Escort, I'd imagine its Brian Green's Ford Escort WRC which is being shared driven by Neil Allport. For Neil to be driving it, I'd imagine its pretty competitive, so it would be that one. (I can't confirm what build cost was, but it was at SilverFern, although retired due to mechanical issues).
Here is the info on the car from SF08 -
1997 Ford Escort WRC
CC: 2000
About Brian - Brian's first Rally car was an Escort 1300 in the 1969 Shell Silver Fern Rally. He has competed all thru Asia, NZ 1997 Group A Champion, 2004 Malaysian Champion, competed in APPRC 2001 - 2006. This year doing the Chinese Rally Championship in Wan Yu Rally Team. Brian was forced to withdraw from the 2006 Silver Fern Rally with mechanical problems.
I'm guessing its the same one then?
And yes, WRC spec is correct

Unless broken this year, it will stand for a decade. And think about how far technology has gone in cars over that period - shows how far we have gone, but how far we haven't in other aspects...
