- web cam on a VERY long USB cable can produce at least some grainy footage of the crims
-put up a fake camera + stickers about it being monitored. Not as good as an actual camera - but if their kids perhaps they will be deterred?
- Broken glass on top of walls - very difficult to grip the wall when its slashing your hands. Not sure of how legal this is tho...
- get a cheap buzzer/ alarm kit of TM/ DSE and modify it to be painfully loud. Its hard to concentrate when alarms are going off
- Sit outside you workshop without keys and think about how YOU would get in. this is the same process they are using. Remedy any possible easy ways in
- do not leave anything in view that is valuable/ desireable.
-do not leave anything unlocked
- Get a DOG - preferably one with BIG teeth.

Sounds obvious? should be - but its surprising how many people do not even bother to lock doors etc...

i think the dog is a good starting point :)

You should have caught them and kicked ten shades of shit out of them, then there wouldnt be a problem. Police are usualy pretty good at turning a blind eye to thieves being dealt to, especially when they're "threatening" you with "a screwdriver" ;)

Just call the cops next time and say some f**ker is breaking in, make a large bang, then say, oh nah don't worry, partner just shot them, all good cheers :)

Downside to this will be being arrested for talking shit

I'd go along the same lines as Dell'Orto suggests. Hide out and trap them, then give them the bash

BTW what are the 2 reasons?

I wonder, how many innocent people are killed each year due to people speeding in cars vs drug related incidents?

I think the sentiment is that it sucks to be robbed, i know how it feels my house got robbed twice within 2 weeks and then another couple of weeks later i had a guy come over at about 11.30 on a thursday night enquiring about a PSP game he bought on trademe.
I know this was probably the guy that ripped us off, but theres nothing you can do about it.
Cops cant do much either, even if they do catch them, most of them are minors and nothing can be done.

Pretty much, get insurance and make it hardto be robbed dog etc..

what about the resouces that are used to combat both? im sure you will find there is far more spend on the roads.

also with the crackhead issue, they may not die (as in instantly) but they do some long term damage to themselves and anyone around them. have you ever seen a baby that had junkie parents? its absolutley discusting

its not just the minor speeding offenses, police waste time, i know, ive had them come to my place to take my car off me for a hole ten dollars unpaid fines, OMG TEN DOLLARS !!!! i had to pay 110 straight there, its not that i didn't have the money its that i did not know i missed my last payment...

So if thats not a waste of police time, what is? im 99% sure theres alot more idiots that owe thousands worth of fines, yet they come see me for ten ...

And drugs are alot worse then any speeding, have you no clue? how do you think someone thats addicted to crack gets the money for crack. put two and two together....

I agree that speeding = bad, and that if you do the crime, you do the time, but what about all these little buggers running round just smash n grabbing from cars, do they do the time for there crime? or do police simply say "theres not much we can do"

The only problem with this idea is you'll get locked up for defending yourself. We are in New Zealand remember.
