all he has to do is say " my business is not doing very good and i can only afford $20 a week

then the disputes person will go
"ok well $20 a week is fair, but you must pay it all back in the next 30 years or get a very angry letter in the mail"

then he will think
"screw that i'll just not pay him cos the system is a big FAIL"

then you sell the claim to "input gang name here" and big boys go and get the money,

how mine went was he had 1 week to pay the money, if he didnt i had to fill out another form and a month or so later we had to go back again so the courts could see how much he earns/spends etc and from what he had left over determine what he would pay me a week.
And yes its a joke, we have ben back to court more times than i have gotten $$$ but it just makes his bill higher. it also didnt help him quitting his job before the hearing

I had a suspicion he'd leave as soon as you said you have no insurance.

It will come down to lack of proof and you may get nothing possibly.

Do you have 3rd party insurance?
Sometimes if you get on well with your insurance company they do chase on your behalf, but dont fork out themselves.

We should all send him emails requesting quotes, sending him to random addresses and basically waste heaps of his time. Also go to every 'rate my builder' type site and write horrendous reveiws of his workmanship etc.

People like this piss me off a lot, I have no issues with playing dirty tricks on them.

MORAL OF THIS DRAWN OUT STORY, FULL INSURANCE PAYS FOR ITSELF!
Just like I said earlier, I had full insurance when some guy smashed me in the rear end, he offered to fix it.

I said you can talk to my insurance company and I will leave the professionals to do the repair job.

While interesting to read over the developments of this story, I fell not one ounce of sympathy for you.

You see if you crashed into my v8 merc and caused 8 grand of damages for instance, I'd still be fine because I have full insurance and insurance companies are better at recovering debt that the courts

At the end of the day 3rd party insurance should be mandatory on anything driven on the road but with a state run alternative to the sharks out there.

Probably your best option to get someone to pay him a visit, arrange to get it fixed, and give them their cut. I know id shit bricks if some group of big islanders turned up to my house

Would hate to get on the wrong side of you, but I think your going a bit far with all of the above. Its a civil matter between two people. Not between anyone else so why consider getting involved :? The above ideas would be treading on "global warmed" thin ice in regards to defamation etc..

If you did the above to me though, you could expect a visit. I wouldn't be over for tea and scones either

haha gluing locks is kinda illegal side of things, if I wanna go down that route I would've clipped him around his ear when I saw him yesterday, coz that's what the voices told me to do.

Trying to be civil about it but not getting anywhere far, might have to try alternatives.

Crap.

Insurance is the best option,
unless your big enough to self insure.

people learning how to drive and crashing less, being responsible for their actions.

hell i payed 1500 for a accident i didnt cause and when i tried to negotiate without using an insurance company everyone took the moral high ground and slammed me for my actions.

so i refused to pay due to the inflated insurance quote when it came time when the debt collector was after me i actually couldnt afford it.

its been 20 dollars a week for 2 years in which i just finished. i still dont have insurance and will not get any.

Car accidents happen whether you like it or not, it is the reason why it is called an accident. Being responsible is having insurance so you do not cause problems for yourself and other users on the road. I sure do not want to be paid $20 a week if someone crashes into my car. You only had to pay $1500, what if it was $50000? :)
