Welding to intake/exhaust manifolds

Postby RomanV » Wed Sep 30, 2009 1:02 pm

Port matching to my manifolds isnt as good as I'd like it to be, and to improve it there will need to be more material welded inside the manifolds.. Then ground back and reshaped to suit the head.

Steel exhaust manifold flange, cast aluminium intake manifold.

Can it be done, without warping the hell out of the parts?

it shouldn't be a prob with a tig. alloy doesn't warp much and neither does carbon steel. If the exhaust manifold was stainless you might have problems if you got it too hot.
