Possibly getting a 2e powered Corolla. Just need to know if i can just add the fuel return line or have to replace all lines. Anyone know if the fuel pump assembly will directly replace the carby setup?
My ee90 alread had two lines running from the tank to the engine bay. I just used them for the feed and return. I had it running but never drove it due to gearbox issues. I then put the motor into a carbed AE82 using the same two lines as before and the std tank with an external pump mounted under the car. The only issue I had was a few surge problems when under 1/4 tank on hard/high speed cornering. I had plans to put in a surge tank but sold the car before installing it.
I vote go for the 4E, because A. you already have it, and B. you dont need to change any mounts.
but on my AE85 whoever did the 4age conversion just used factory setup from carbed engine and put external in the engine bay, thereby minimising the amount of line that was pressurised by the pump (EFI hose is pretty expensive)
was bit noisy tho
it was all pretty rangi but pretty much the only part of the car that didnt give me some kind of issue while i owned it
Thanks for all the replies guys, Im going to look for a complete efi tank and lines, looks to be the easiest option.
Anyone know if the overall length of the 2 door and 4 door models are the same? Or even if the tank is in the same position or the lines are the same length?
I have a fxgt wreck here , mt wellington, you can take the tank and all lines needed for $80. Or I have a tank all ready out,The pump is uprated and nearly new as i ran it on the race car before i changed to a plastic tank, After $100 for the pump setup so $180 for all parts with the pump.
AceSniper wrote:the two carb lines ones a fuel line and ones for tank vent is it not? so if using both lines for efi you will need a new tank vent setup?
I think so, as one of the lines just went to a filter/vacuum arrangement before I stripped it out. The cap had a vent anyway so no major.
Also I dont reccomend putting an external in the engine bay as I was told 'sucking' fuel up from the tank will shorten their lifespan, so try and keep it at or below the fuel level.
When I did a carb to efi conversion on my first AE92 I ghad bought the whole tank but realized I only needed the pump with the mount assembly that screws onto the fueltank with about 10 screws or so. And also the efi fuel line and filter.. everything clipped and screwed into place. There was also a return line from the carb back to the fuel tank and also a vent from the fuel tank to the engine bay where it went into a small canister thing.
