I'd think a flex joint is a good idea just to be safe, but as mentioned by others - make sure your downpipe is braced to the engine too. I do actually wonder how effective those flex joints are for a RWD - in a FWD you're bending the tube, which is how the joints are designed to deform; in a RWD you're twisting it, and I'm not sure how much (if at all) those joints can twist.
