5efte not starting - help

Postby sik_gt_starly » Wed Oct 07, 2009 9:02 pm

put this on starletcentral but no answer yet:

car - ep82 starlet
motor - 5efhe long block with 4efte running gear ecu injectors etc, with big turbo and a few other things. purchased from dodsons a year ago with 80,000km on clock

everything is together and plugged in/bolted up etc, motor is turning over sweet as, has oil and water

is making spark and firing order is correct

pretty sure its getting fuel as when turning over can smell unburnt petrol coming out of the downpipe (isnt connected up to exhaust yet)

can hear it making compression in all 4 cylanders however havnt done compression test

havnt touched motor since getting it from dodsons, only put new plugs in.

any help as to why its not going?

if you need more info sing out.

thanks alot

pretty sure it has to be the timing, thats all thats really left that could be causing it to not start.

will try a few things tonight and see if any luck.

another option was maybe fuel is old

its not even spluttering or anything trying to start, just turning over

wrong timing could cause that, if you've got fuel / compression / spark. try engine start as said above just to eliminate fuel for sure, should atleast fire once or twice on engine start alone.

haven't got the timing 180º out have you?
