BZ-R Super Strut / Coilover options

Postby Wanabee Kiwi » Sat Oct 10, 2009 5:03 pm

Hey guys,

Done a bit of research but not really found anything. I'm going be buying a Trueno BZ-R in the next few weeks and have a few questions on how to set it up.

I want to set the car up for touge and circuit sprints and so far my plans include:

Coilovers
Semi Slicks (Toyo 888 or similar)
Bigger Brakes

Now when it comes to the coilovers I have noticed that Superstrut are not only hard to come buy but also bloody expensive. Is it possible to retro-fit a non superstrut setup from a BZ-G and then use standard coilovers?

Or is superstrut that good that it makes more sense to shell out the money and get superstrut coilovers?

Thanks guys

James

you have a few options you can change back to non s/s or get suspension tec to make you up some coilovers they quoted 350 per corner with springs to convert your standard shocks by cutting off the spring perch and welding the coilover gear on it

That doesnt sound like a bad idea. A mate of mine is sponsored by Autolign so I might see what can be done there.

I suppose the main question was will the car handle better on superstrut or macpherson struts? The whole point of this project is to get through the twisties quickly lol

To be honest if you want to build it as a track weapon start by removing the 4age and implanting a B18c vtec in there, then get rid of the rest of the car and put a DC2 integra around the newly transplanted engine

I think listen to this guy, especially if said dc2 was type R.

Those things can embarriss cars of much higher caliber in the twisties

You can probably spend the equal amount of the cost of a dc2 type r on your ae111, then still get eatin by a standard dc2 type R.

Probably could but I dont want a Type-R. I respect Honda's for what they are capable of but I simply don't want one.

I'l have a look into the TRD Springs & Ohlins shocks....

Should find out what brand I have, might put the car back to standard, then sell it for cheap, might end up with more coin that way.

Ive seen 96 Spec Type R's go for as little as $7k admitadly they are not as gooder looking car as the BZ-R, but other than that it really does just chew them up and spit them out and the parts avaliblity for the teg is amazing. Can't argue with personal prefrance at the end of the day though.
