HA HA HA.. Monkey's butt...

But seriously. I like it. Back end is a bit meh. But I'd take one if they were a decent price.

i dismissed the concept as soon as i heard it was subaru powered because im biased, but once i accepted the fact that they will never be able to make another 86 i have sort of come round to the idea as it does have its good points.

the motor will sit low
half the aftermarket parts are already being made.
sti swap will be cool beans

although a rwd 2zz i think would have been a more appropriate 86 inspired motor imo it obviously isn't as viable (they spin the wrong way???) .

surly you could do a onverstin tho, engin direction doesint mater as mutch.. just like honda stuff

it will come down to engin bay room..

hope they beefed up the boxer a bit more.. im quite bias about the reliability of them... apparently the new ones are better but onnly time will tell wen all the (porer) people get there hands on them and star thrashing them without alot of knowledge of how to look after them..

and yes sti converstin would be cool... would have to have better intrnails b4 id own one tho..

they should build a new I6 Turbo engine, Jam that in it and have a new legend. but toyota have lost their touch when it comes to building somthing cool (Aside for the BB Opendeck! Deckvan anyone?)

And Beemers.
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Taking what I said far too simply ,let’s see shale I get some pic's of the most alike cars from the same era to prove a point lol....

Each to their own, I'll stand by what I said.
And no I don't fee any need to explain futher

Not sure whose pictures spurned your last post but I think all anyone was trying to show was that through different time periods there are plenty of visually similar cars - as you were discussing in your original post, except it appeared you were relating to late model cars, and others were discussing the similarity of the new toyota concept with the likes of the Nisaan 370Z and other sport coupes.
I chose a slection of sport coupes from yesteryear some of which can be seen to follow a similar design philosophy - perhaps even copied and pasted.
79rolla expressed the same idea except his media was small family sedans.
Like I said design trends are not necessarily a bad thing IMO, you just get more credit when you are innovative I guess.

As far as I'm concerned there is not enough visually different cars coming out these days from the main manufacturers.

Are they all buying there light units from the same suppler etc....

If inspired off an AE86, sh*t go old school and use the old sharp lines but with up to date interiors and a few plastic pieces.
That’s a car that would sell…..

No it will not, unless it costs $20000.
Majority of AE86 admirers are poor people who don't buy brand new cars. Or just people who don't buy brand new cars.

I don't see the point in buying brand new cars. The only people that can afford them are the babyboomers who have no mortgage to pay or company vehicles that lease new cars. New cars are very expensive. I mean a Camry which is not exactly an expensive luxury vehicle, will set you back what $40k to $50k. If you had $20k to spend would you buy a brand new Toyota Echo or old Supra Twin Turbo? I know which one I would go for.

If Tata can make a car for $4000 or whatever brand new, I don't see why can't Toyota make an affordable car for similar price considering the amount of market bargaining power they have with OEM manufacturers. I do realize Toyota made a loss in the financial year of 2008. But that's because they produced too many cars that didn't sell. I would be interested to know their gross margin on a vehicle. I know counter argument would be Tata is made in India (cheap labour). But Toyota does the same with Toyota Hilux which is made in Thailand (cheap labour as well).

One thing is making fiber glass bumper cars, that will fall apart in 2 years (if lucky), another thing is making high quality vehicles as such as Toyota.

Tata manages to make these vehicles so cheap because they use extremely cheap labour, no quality control, questionable materials.
Just look at the prices of Russian vehicles, similarly priced to Tata, of similar quality. After 50k they need full rebuilt, while many things break in first 5k.

huge prices for new vehicles are due to quality control, it cost a lot of money to reject parts/process, while same part/process would go through OK in Indian/Chinese/Russian facility, but it would fail after short period of time, where for the Toyota it would cost a lot in name and warranty repairs, while for no-name company or company with bad reputation it does not matter, they don't offer warranty or offer warranty with a lot of small print, and when everyone thinks they make shitty product another person complaining will not make the difference, there always will be suckers that will buy into cheap.

This car looks great, and it's the first new one I've looked at and thought 'If I had the money I'd buy it' in a loooong time...
