Postby Boosted_162 » Thu Oct 08, 2009 6:12 pm

Hey guys,
Bit stumped atm. Wanting to change the tyres on my BBS wheels, but alas it has a funny valve system.

Obviously im missing a tool for it, does anyone have one or know what i need to buy?

Cheers :D

Looks like a torx, couldn't tell you which size it is though. Bolt shop/wairau engineering?

We got a bit to fit it, but wasnt 100% sure it was supposed to come out (Nick and Rhys at Magwarehouse were helping me).

If it does just come out, can we just replace it with a screw in type valve?

it has a thread for a valve core just below the start of the hole, so im guessing that you need a special inflator nozzel but iv'e never seen it before

We got a bit that fits, we didnt put too much pressure on it as we arent sure its meant to come out...lol.

But yeah, main problem is we have no way to inflate it currently without some fitting. Or we need to replace it with a new valve if thats possible..

its not something that needs to be undone. so ne allen key or torx will help. that is where you need to inflate the tyre

Cut the tyre off as per your other video Tsoob

Maybe it will have a nut on the inside thats piss easy to take off. That might be a "lock nut" valve so someone can't steal ya valves

Nah, we took the tyre off. If you look closely in that pic, you can see the actual valve inside - that is the entire assembly! There must be a seperate piece that you use to inflate it. Oh and it usually has a screw that goes in to hide it/be the dust cap

Oh and no shit, on the other side of the valve there is just a little hole into the inside of the rim!! You can see the fitting if you look inside it.

After much searching on the interweb, have found a couple of people who have had the same problem as me. It would appear i need to get a special inflation adapter, and i need to get it from BBS :( (hopefully they still have them, think mine is quite an oldish model :()

Anyone know of someone local who deals with BBS in either USA or Japan? I think i might have a talk to Mac if he doesnt see this first :P

Have you talked to Pete? (THASHZ)
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Just an update. Huge thanks to Nick for helping me out with this, i got the tip that the valve is a standard Jaguar part. Headed off to Roverland today, and found out the XK X Type Jag comes with a little screw in valve :D

Parts guy is trying to find me a part number, if anyone else has access to an EPC or something and can find me a part number, that would be awesome!!
