So you all know that recently I sold my car.... well something bery bad has happened.
For those of you that know the build of the Rs legacy basically i rebuilt the engine/suspension and got new gearbox bla bla bla and then decided to sell it.
So on the auction reads as it did in the for sale section. Well last saterday night a guy rings me up at around 7pm from wanaka saying can he buys the car, I say yeah sure, so he drives to dunedin and gets here at around 11pm (middle of the night). I take him for a drive and during the drive he starts asking me some weird questions like "so all it needs for a wof is some new indicator bulbs right?"... and im thinking, hold on. my auction pages listed a small paragraph of stuff this car needed.... obviously the guy (16 yr old hoody wearing ... u know the type) didnt even bother to read the auction. So After the drive he inspects the car.... its leaked a few drops of oil which he spots and I comment that since its a very fresh rebuild (500 kms or so) this can happen sometimes but that it should go away after a few more kms but that he should keep a close eye on the oil level all the same. I tell him that the car is tuned for 98 and he replys "98 is just shit av gas ill run it on 95 and it will go better".
two days later (monday) he rings me and says that the dipstick for the oil got blown out while he was driving.
He takes the car to a "subaru specialist" in wanaka apparently (didnt know wanaka had these) and he tells him that the cylender rings are blown and that he suspects the car had been overfilled with oil.
Long story short the guy txts me and says he is going to take me to court. Now I spoke with the guy that built the engine and he had it for 4 weeks after the rebuild and it ran perfect. no smoke no funny noises, I had it for a week and it was perfect for me too, just the odd drop of oil every now and then.
So my thoughts are this.
He took the car and raped the shit out of it back to wanaka and cooked it.
He brought a big thing of oil and put heaps too much in and has stuffed it.
He got the boost tap and wound it right up and blew it.
I have spoken with a couple mechanics and they have said that brand new rings dont just fail unless you do sumthing pretty serious to it.
So what I want to know is... do I have anything to worry about?
I got the guy to sign a sales document saying he had inspected the vehicle and was happy with its condition etc but still.....
Any thoughts toyspeed.
Im in the middle of my exams for Uni and I really want to know if I should need to worry or not?
