Lmao. Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera with change to build an angry Supra AND a respectable daily driver - or another Japanese supercar which may never be recognized as a supercar.

Just had a good read of the new Top Gear mag and the guy that wrote the article reckons the LF-A could quite possibly be the greatest car ever to come out of Japan.I thought that was a pretty bold statement.

Well, what would you think to be better? The single car I could think of would be the R35 GTR, but that is not as good as the LF-A, and I'm pretty sure it won't be as reliable as the LF-A, many GTR's have had transmission problems and Nissan even included a button in the car that basically voided the warranty (Launch Control). It is not as fast or as luxurious as the LF-A.

I've seen alot of articles about this car outside of the cost whis will be upwards of $750 NZD the car doesn't really seem to have any complaints from the people that have driven it ie Moto Jorno's.

The thing with the high cost is because they have built it from scratch and have no reference points hence why it has taken so long aswell as there has been alot of revamping along the way for example they had to redesign the front to get more aerodynamic performance also changed the whole chassis from aluminium to carbon.The engine blocks are cast in the same place as where there F-1 motors are cast and for quality control Toyota built there own carbon manufacturing factory specifically for the LF-A's body parts.With the fact there only building 500 comes the exclusivity so all of the above factors will factor into the hefty price tag.

Facts and figures well it can pull upto 2Gs in corners and has seen speeds at the Nardo bowl in Italy of 218 mph.The specific power figures well in my Supra experince and most JDM carmakers they will understate as the LF-A's 552 HP 354 ft/lbs of torque and 3.7 to 100 could well be more and the 100 time could be less so again I guess its true test is when it matches up against its opposition in car tests.

lexis is no longer selling them, insted making it so you get a 2 year leas, supposedly to incorage you to drive it, insted of just being a collectors item.

Ferari did that with the F50 to stop the new model premium that occurs when buyers in the queue flick it on to someone else ,who can't get one, at an inflated price. It didn't work for them, don't see how it's going to work for Lexus :?

I seen a couple of interesting bits of info about this car.

They could'nt use an analog rev counter as the engine spins up the revs to quick for the analog rev counter to keep up so a computerised option was used.

If you have an accident and bend the frame rails they apparently are simple to replace you just unbolt them and fix the new one in front and rear but if you crack the carbon tub your F**KED..

Chief test driver Akira Iida reckons he can do sub 7.30 in traffic but with a clear track he believes low 7.20 is possible.Even some motor journo's were doing 8 minute laps while testing at the Nurburgring in the LFA

With the gearbox the chief designer looked at a twin clutch gearbox but felt there was'nt enough engagement so went for the clunkier and slower single clutch set-up as it was closer to a manual gearbox and didn't like the twin clutch setup due to the torque converter automatic feel.

I've seen youtube footage of this guy driving around the ring he's giving it death and talking the whole way around even when Porsche's and VW and Audi's pulling out in front of him while going full noise.Yep I agree he's an epic driver.In the 24 hr Nurburgring qualifying he did a lap of 8 min. 41 good enough for 6th overall fastest on the grid.A reference was the Aston that won the SP8 class was only good for 9.04 in the same qualifying.

If Motor Mavens legitimately got a call from a well-placed friend and truly snuck in to fiddle with a $400,000 car that's ostensibly in trustworthy care, we apologize, but it smells really staged from here. It doesn't matter, though, the LFA looks fantastic in this video, and the LCD gauges are cool to watch in action. That's the real value of this video, watching the interior come alive like the bridge of some kind of spaceship.

its such a shame there only making a limited run of these cars, it wont be like the jza80 where you could wait 20 years and buy one when your in the money,

Yeah only 500 but the allocation worldwide is between 5-10 of these for sale in Australia so I reckon its not out of the question to see one of these cars in good old NZ even at the $700 plus K NZD price tag.

Someone would have to be really committed to spent $700+k on a limited run Toyota - definitely nothing against Toyotas, but it would have to be really really special and Toyota better have a mint support scheme as I can't see the whole "Hi can I have a Ryco Oilfilter and a fan belt for my Lexus LFA?" at Repco going well.
