It will never be. It is a gimmick compare to Porsche.

But end of the Day any Porsche is jsut a suped up VW beatle

I'd have the BMW hand down over the GT3 any day, fr over rr anyday for me

Have you driven an M3 or Porsche?
I have been lucky to drive both E46 M3 and Carrera 4S (yes not GT3).
I would take Carrera over M3 any day.

If you seriously think that modern Porsche is just supped up beetle, you are delusional.

If you think a Porsche is better than a BMW I belive that you are delusional

Apart from there Formula 1 team BMW don't often $&#$% up if theya re building a race prepared vechile so if they say it will be a rival to the Gt3 I would well belive it

I am sure that there will review or comparsion of the 2 on the web shortly, and I hope the BMW hands the VWs its buttocks

End of the day though front engine rwd will always beat a rear engined rwd IMO for sheer drivng fun

So have you driven representation of each? I assume you have driven BMW, if you stand behind them so much.
Or you based your opinions on someone else's?
BMW is average in my personal experience. Better than VW. But still average. Even high end BMW is not exceptionally well built these days.
"A" Porsche always be better than "a" BMW. BMW is mass produced commoner, while Porsche is something very different.

While question being asked about Clarkson & Hammond - they are spoiled brats.

Also worth considering the costs, I mean a m3 costs about 140k ( I believe, and JUST a caerrea costs over 200k, the gt3's go for over 250k, now i dont want to get into an argument over cost vs performance but when we are considering two top marques of europe its worth asking wether a normal m3 is 90% as good as a gt3 (probably) which suggests a stock m3 is pretty good value, however if indeed they are going to make a car that beats or is as good as a gt3, I would want to know two things, how much does it cost, and if its closer to or over 200k, what has bmw done to the car to merit such a price.

Also , eat me ihavelift :P

A cars quality is not determined by how many are produced  BMW = mass produced commoner.... hahaha always something to laugh at in your posts  I like how you call people with differing opinions delusional, but anyone looking from the outside would probably think another party is delusional.

Not 100% keen on the beemers look, but that would be countered with its pants wetting performance no doubt. So i'm with Revhead, can't afford either but would have both if I had the coin

I have driven an E34 M5 and also a M3 CSL

Both of which I found to be incredible, the noise form the M5's v8 was somthing else and as for the CLS I belive that the owner is still cleaning my sticky mess away after 5 years

IMO the moment Porsche started making cars like Cayman, that horrible 4x4 thing and there new 4 door they also became just anotehr car producer, there is nothing speacil about Porsche

Ferrari and Lambo hav and Aura about them that say im speacil and exotic and I'm worth 200k plus

A Porsche lost that the moment they started making the above cars as pretty much any Tom Dick and Harry can own a Porsche

In saying that since Lambo have jumped in with the VAG group the aura of there products has dissipated IMO

end of the day as they say you can choose your friends but not your family and the porsche as far as im concerned will always be a relative of the beatle

All you people saying the Porsche is better or the BMW is better are all morons! In the end, they'll probably end up being just the same with trivial differences :P
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

So price up a Porsche 997 GT3 RSR and see what they're worth, lol.

A quick google and a currency conversion comes out at close to $750K NZD,

that's 3/4 of a Million Dollars, which is cheaper than what I had been told they were.

At the end of the day, everyone has their own personal opinions, Why cant people accept that?

I like both cars, Not sure which one it would come down to for me, as the M3 is still early days, we dont know exactly how it would perform, as the GT3 has been around for a while now, so we know that it is a well set up car.

You say tomato, I say tomato.

Some need to learn to respect others PERSONAL opinions...

+1 to reserving judgement until the GTS is driven.

Comparing this to a E46 is wate of time. simply because (unlike Porsche who have been evolving the same design for decades) - every new product BMW produces is a quantum leap over the previous. Think E90 compared to E46, compared to a E36 before it.

Or how the M5 cars have progressed over the years.

-This has all the signs of being one very exciting piece of kit :D

this will probably create some debate but I feel that the e90 was a step backwards from the e46, not only in styling but also in drivability and overall perfomance, many motoring journo's agree with that too

Just remember that this will be far superior than the standard M3.
