Mitsi Chariot - No Spark

Postby Flunk » Fri Nov 13, 2009 6:15 pm

Not a toyota, but thought somebody might be able to help..

Working on my mums car, mitsi chariot 7 seater..

She went to back down the drive, started up, moved about 5 feet, then it died, now it wont start..

Turns over, all power works, no fuses blown, checked fuel lines, fuel is at engine.. No spark. took the dizzy cap off, cleaned it up etc, tried again, still no spark..

Has no coil, one of those electronic things, just a plug with about 10 wires going into dizzy cap..

Any ideas on what to check next?

get a test light and see if there is power being supplied to distributor

if there is then you quite probably have a crook dizzy

if there is not its somewhere further up the line - perhaps ecu

Yes but not in that order.

Most common fail is the coil,

Next most common is the CAS,

both of which are in the dist,

and the ecu would be next.

would be very surprised if it's not one of the first two.

I don't know much about mitsi's, but we had a Lancer 4G91 before, it just died one day for no reason, same symptoms as you, turns out it was a dead igniter / coil thingee, someone who knew a lot more about mitsi's than I did said it's a common problem.

Good luck......
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.
