4a-ge 20v bottom end rebuild

Postby headshotnz » Thu Nov 19, 2009 9:55 pm

So i blew my engine up, it was ticking, so i kept driving is, assuming it will stop eventually. finally gave up. made a few ugly noises then gave up.. :D

now looking to rebuild the bottom end, or buy a cheap second hand black/head.

Roughly how much should it cost to rebuild. looking for rings, bearings etc etc.

Cheers

If you kept driving it too far,

you may find it is too far $&#$% to rebuild.
If you need to replace a crank and some rods,
you might as well start with a s/h block.

as matt said, if it stopped or even when they just start to knock it can mean the crank is stuffed
it doesnt take much to ruin a crank

There is a good chance that you have done further damage.

When i stripped my engine down it wasnt making any bottom end knocks at all and the bearing shells were near poked, and the crank had to be machined. I would say you will be needing another bottom end.
