how about you orientate the subs into a position and play some music and test them out. That way you know which is best for the vehicle.

Generally in cabin, bass wave lengths are long, so the longest distance is the best to get bass up front. Based on internal reflection of inside the cabin, including the boot, then ideally you would face back firing into the tailgate area for best bass.

Possibly another factor to consider when deciding which way to orientate, is if the subs have grill type covers etc or not.

If not then you might want to think about what you will be putting / throwing etc in to your boot and possible damage that could occur :)

thought there might be a rule of thumb.

i have them back to back facing away from each other, sounds pritty good in wee escort. couldn't course any damage could it? they both are powerful subs

if anything, fire them into the corners of the vehicle for best loading.

in mates mk1 escort, we had the box against the back seat, facing the back of the boot, at a slight upward angle. boot open sounded kinda hollow, soon as shut the boot, sounded deeper, cleaner, shit load louder.
