Powersteering Rack Rebuilding

Postby blackmk3 » Wed Dec 02, 2009 9:06 pm

Hi there guys, Ive got a question regarding power steering racks, the car in question is my 1989 MA70 supra, But the Steering rack is a 1991 JZA70 item

The rack seems fine no obvious leaks or bad looking bits, but i want to look into getting it rebuilt just so its going to be perfect and not give me any issues once fitted

Who's the recommended places for such?
Have you had previous experience with places about?

I live in Taupo so the rack will most likely just be couriered off to them

Thanks heaps
Nick

Hey man

Not sure about the rack rebuild, but when you reinstall it.. make sure you get some rk bushes for it!

Let me know if you need the details.

I had the PS rack in MR2 rebuilt last month, by Car Tune Co in Hamilton (they use a local steering specialist to do their rebuilds). Cost me about $650 for the rebuild + labor to remove and install rack.

Yes very good service and excellant turn around. We send all our racks and pow/steer pumps to them from wellington because we found we got way better service than anyone locally.
