Toyspeed Outage Info

Postby BlakJak » Thu Dec 17, 2009 5:35 pm

Folks may've noticed a period of downtime for all things relating to toyspeed.org.nz between Tuesday PM and this afternoon - apologies for this, essentially we had domain-name related problems and are working to find out the root cause and prevent them reoccurring, as best we can at least.

Cheers
BJ

Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

If you'd investihgated further you would've found that the domain registration expired on 15/12... someone forgot to renew it ;)

Usually expired domains have a status of "Pendng Release" for three months so that someone can't just swipe your domain if you late in renewing it. Then a few days before it's released you can put a bid on it to get it as soon as it's available ;)

I thought it was our aussie office blocking the website.

Be careful what you assert.

http://nocleanfeed.com/learn.html

The Aussies are looking to block anything that gets classified under their system as 'Refused Classification' (RC). In effect that's anything that can't fit into an MA15+ rating as that's the highest they have (no R18 rating).

http://www.computerworld.com.au/article ... =16&fpid=0

Looks like two block lists, one for content deemed illegal under Australian law, and another stricter one looking to provide a 'suitable for children' feed.

Most of the difficulty is the inability to see what's on the list, and the insanity of the Government somehow knowing better than most adults what they should and shouldn't be allowed to view.

Glad i'm not an aussie.

Its more based on the fact that Aussie staff where wasting time and not doing the work they where meant to do.

Even our GM here thinks its BS.

And we suffer for it, But hey, rules are rules I guess.
