I think I sense someone with the 'Glorified Toyota' mentality when it comes to the Lexus brand....... :P

The first 3 years of warranty and servicing are free and they throw in a set of tyres with every lexus sold but yep 700 plus K is just a boatload of $$$$ for any car.

Fixed?

2jayzgte - I am pretty sure any car worth a reasonable amount of money (starting at a fraction of $700,000) come with that kind of package.

Car looks incredibly cool, and I'd love to see one in NZ - but I consider it reasonable unlikely.

In all honesty, amongst a bunch of Toyota (sorry sorry sorry, Lexus!?!) aficionados - if anyone here had $700,000 to spend on cars... would you pick a Lexus LF-A, or would the temptation be there to do something like build a 1mW Supra monster, maybe a Nissan GTR track hack and just for rofls an M3 daily driver with a bunch of cash left over for whatever you choose to do with it?

remember that in other parts of the world Lexus IS seperate from Toyota.

Who knows what it would sell for here, basing on over seas prices is not always accurate.
But With 500 available, and only 5 or so for oz, I would not be at all surprised to never see one here.

This car is more about brand image and excitement than a viable sports car. Although by all accounts is will be perfectly viable to those who buy one.
Still, when can we finally have a super car out of japan?

if i had the type of money to spend on cars like this i would buy two,
if you had the type of money to be comfortable in buying this type of car then its just a toy, but where talking multi millionaires.

its like the oil rich Arab family's, they don't see cars as a investment or prized item, its more a toy or show off piece, i have a friend (only son too) who's family is the second biggest aluminum/glass maker in Malaysia. and his cars are more play things rather then life savings or long stretch purchase items, i jizz every time he shows me photos of his new car..every few months, and not just cheap cars im talking new porch gt2, m3, m6, mercs,

If I had the money I'd jump on the Lexus but thats just me.

Supra's are great I love them but to be fair what interests me is having a driver friendly car.I see far to many people who go for big HP set-ups but get no where near the potiential of the set-up hence why that avenue was never an interest for me.In essence they have payed all that money for a dyno sheet or to run it down the strip or motorway for me thats boring and doesn't float my boat at all some others may feel different though.

I like the idea of a FR platform aswell the driving feel with RWD is what I like.

I agree that the price is a real hike and more than likely no one in NZ would part with that much for a so called car maker that doesn't associate itself with this type of car.But in essence they being Toyota have to start somewhere.

I also like the fact that the LFA is a track focused car which though other car companies have cars for less I'm a huge fan of Toyota reliability which would be a huge selling point for me,take it to the track beat on it drive it home just like I do to my Supra this is hugely appealing for me.

You kinda have to keep the exchange rate in perspective..........if this was 2007 the car would be 25% cheaper.

Its in 599 Fiorano territory and sadly the 599 still has the edge in acceleration and straight line speed. I ask myself why Lexus and Nissan with their GTR always take a conservative approach when the types of people with $500-700k in their pockets wold prob be more tempted to buy a Lexus or GTR if it had 700+hp to start with on paper.

I know the LFA kills a 599 around the Nurburgring but that wont generate the sales that having 700hp in their brochure would. No doubt the aftermarket will support the LFA in Japan and the US as it has done with the R35 but when your gunning for the exotic market you need to start off with a very big gun

I'm sure they've already got more than enough interested buyers. Say they sell 500 of them for $700,000 that's $350,000,000 dollars, sounds a lot but is bugger all when you consider how long its been in development and how much new technology is going into it. It's an exercise in brand awareness to make Lexus look cool.

I'm hoping this is paving a good way to the future, there'd be nothing like a Honda supercar to keep the Toyota (sorry Lexus) vs Honda rivalry cranking:

Wont be going into production though, Honda got special permission to enter it into Super GT without homologating a road version. Still sounds unreal 8)

Yeah they are both a bit Japanese - funnily enough, but yeah love them both and it'd really compliment the LFA if Honda made a production version of this thing, imho.

I want my Imp to sound like that :(

Is there another version? Or is it only a Super GT car?

I wouldn't say its lines look dissimilar to this - I guess like what you'd expect a SuperGT version of it to look like:

i honestly cannot conceive of having enough money that i would be willing to blow 700k on one car. i'd rather own 10 worth 50k each, with 200k left to buy a gas station or something.

then again, i dont have enough money to buy 1 worth 5k at the moment, so i guess im not really in the target market :P

i know about half a dozen people in the target market and they would rather buy another lambo or Ferrari oh wait they did!
if only they bleed Toyota like me,

its quite easy to predict that the 500 units have already been sold so there's not much more to argue.

the ft86 will make more money for toyota then the LFA ever will, the LFA is more of a show case of what toyota can do and to say to the would "yes toyota is still a motor sports company" thanks to the new CEO there is still race fuel running through toyota HQ.

what was the 2000gt for?
