Where to buy speakers?

Postby Anton » Sun Jan 24, 2010 9:15 pm

May I have advise where I can buy rear speakers for my Sprinter Marino?
The current ones have a strange vibrating sound on the bass notes so looks like time for replacement. Preferably a place that will do fitting too. I live in Onehunga so maybe something near would be convenient. Thanks mates.

if you want cheap no name brand jaycar wouldn't be a bad place to try.. just down the motorway in manakau / aiport oaks..

if you want quality, is Paul money still the place to go?

Hi Adydas, thanks for the reply. How do these cheap no name brands perform? Do they at least sound near the not-so-expensive named brands, like a Pioneer perhaps? Any idea on how long these cheap ones last under moderate use? - 6 months.

How about for speakers in the middle of the price range spectrum, any place you know?
Cheers.

whats you budget. Brand name speakers are very cheap nowadays for their entry level lines.

Hi DeeCee. Where can I check out the entry level brand name speakers?

Adydas, is Jaycar also called Jaycar Electronics Pty Ltd? I cannot seem to find it in the Yellow Pages, specially the Manukau address.

i wouldn't shop at parallel imported due to previous dodge service and products over the years. Personal preference of course.

I've had no probs with parallel imported. Would go back if I ever needed any more stereo gear.

Speakers

Postby Anton » Wed Jan 27, 2010 11:35 am

I will go to the "Show N Shine" event at the ASB Showgrounds this Saturday. Hopefully to find some trade stalls for speakers with a good price and who will be willing to fit.

At the car show in ASB showgrounds last Saturday, someone referred me to a place called Hyper, located in the Penrose - G. So. Road area.
Does anyone have any experience with this place? I was informed they give advise on audio set ups, they fit, and have a wide range of audio related items.

Finally got my speakers replaced last week at Hyper. It was just a simple 2 way Pioneer brand 6 inch speaker for the rear and cost $100 including fitting. They have a lot of choices and the staff are willing to give advise if you need it. They also have a nice, comfy waiting area. The cars are done in another area and unless you are accompanied by staff, you cannot enter into that area. I would recommend the place and so far I would say it is the best place in relation to this thread. Cheers to all who participated.
