What does a R154 gearbox sell for?

Postby crispy'86 » Wed Jan 27, 2010 1:00 pm

Hey all i'm possibly considering getting a R154 gearbox for a manual conversion for my clubbydore. Some people reckon the factory T5 boxes aren't as strong. How much would i expect to pay or could someone possibly do a deal with an auto from v8 commodore TH700R4.
Apperently there's a 4wd version of the box. This true?? and what does it come in??

The only 4WD R series boxes are in second gen Tacoma's and trucks, but no R154 in 4WD

There is an R151 from memory which is a 4WD box that came out in a Hilux... ratios will be poos though I imagine for what you want to do.

Hmmm ouch!! That definitely hurts the back pocket with some of those prices. I guess you do get what you pay for in terms of internal strength of the box itself. How about W58 boxes, what do they go for. Maybe a cheaper option

If i had the cash then yeah the r154 would be the go, but i'm just going to risk it and use the T5 box..
