Engine Transplant - 94 Corona

Postby XSDRIFT » Mon Feb 01, 2010 3:54 pm

Hey guys,

Believe I've blown the head gasket after a radiator failure in the weekend  Milky water in the Radiator... yet to check the oil but imagine a similar look.

Wondering about the best replacement engine. Ideally don't want to muck around with ECU and wiring so what I'm wondering is:

Are all 3S-FE's the same engine mount wise etc..?
Will a 3SFE from another model (Curren etc...) work on the corona ECU?
Wiring the same?
What is the newest version of the engine available which will work on the '94 ECU and current wiring?

Anyone got one for sale? haha

Any thoughts, feedback or experience appreciated. Likely to be a home job ideally and as daily driver rather go for the easiest route.

the easiest route will be sourcing the same engine from an identical vehicle, chances are anything else is not going to be 'bolt in' though differences may be minor. different bodies mean different brackets etc, can cause some headaches if you just want it back on the road

I succesfully swapped 3SFE out of a 89 corona with 3SFE out of 95 corona. I had to use original manifolds, sensors etc to make it "fit", as everything apart from long block was different.

Radiator

What alternate cars to the corona would have a radiator to suite the 3sfe? Wondering about camry's etc... as to what ones would have radiators which would be a direct replacement.

Hey dude. I have a 3S-FE from a 95 Corona taking up space my my olds garage that would do the job for ya. I took it out to put in a 3S-GTE in its place.

Trouble it is in Whangarei :(
