i was driving on the mway in auckland today and came across a mobile police van parked on the side, im used to seeing the mitsi l300 vans so when i saw this i was shocked, it was the latest Toyota Previa van, and yes im 100% sure it was a mobile speed camera, saw him setting it up.

Saw one of these being worked on at SPEL in Upper Hutt a few months back. First time i'd come across one in either Auckland or Wellington, widened my horizons on speed cameras somewhat; but there's a better solution - don't speed! :-)

Remember, its to keep us safe and not to collect revenue... *cough*
Pretty good example of them only doing it to collect revenue imo

... or to make a point for those motorists who habitually speed everywhere _except_ past mobile speed cameras?

I think BZG was refering to AE86Less' post about the camera being 20m from a 100kph sign, which presumably, his dad was speeding up for :)
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

Yeah, agree, my comment was about changing the vehicle type to random cars, not about placement (20m from a speed change sign? ffs)

I think I may have gotten done by one on Sunday about 50 meters into a passing lane on the killmog, coming towards dunedin from the north.

Was a bastard too, because I'd been stuck behind this car for ages that had been slowing down & speeding up randomly (like 70-120ish).
Will not be happy if I get a ticket.

I can remember leaving the mount (was a 70km/h zone iirc) and car in front was going slowly but had gotten a little in front due to traffic at a round about holding me up. Got to the passing lane and was, i think a 100km/h zone from then on. Went to gun it (catch then pass this car) only to spot the van on the side of road. Didn't want the ticket so sat at 105km/h and only just caught the car at the end of the passing lane doing 90km/h. Was stuck behind it for a while

On my way home last night saw a new shape Hilux as an undercover brother. Black dualcap, no canapy with lights on dash, grill and rear window, saw the hawk eye in the corner of the windscreen too...

Was at work last Thursday morning. A silver Holden Rodeo pulled out with lights flashing. I'm in Morrinsville/Hamilton btw.

Also on a seperate incident I was at home and across the road was a car pulled up by a cop in a silver Honda accord Torneo.... sneaky

Yeh, I've seen tonnes of Rodeo's. I've only ever seen them pull up trucks though.

There's also brand new Honda Accords and Mazda 6's being used
