Cruise / driving range / BBQ This sunday
Moderator: The Mod Squad
Well the day went well, couple of new faces i've never seen before. didn't get chance to meet them being behind time this morning, really good scenery when you were on the level ground. Weather wasn't the greatest so couldn't exactly enjoy the view up round the summit road, let alone seeing the road infront of you!!! Was bit hairy at times on the trip being bit damp, next time we do the driving range thing i won't use a voucher for 50 free hits. Good barbecue too Dan, you'll make a good chef one day.
Hey brick did you see the location and meetup details for today? Or ya still got my cell number?

Nice theory
Doesn't work in reality as not many chch members are willing to make the effort.
Which is fine, but you can't expect us to put on more events when people won't show up.
I have put on events that only a couple of people have turned up to, so what's the point? These events were proposed weeks in advance, people made suggestions, then never showed up. So toyspeeders only have themselves to blame when there are no longer regular events organised. Sucks for the new members wanting to meet some like minded people, but thems the breaks.

Hey Luke
I suppose what we need to do is just organise stuff to suit ourselves maybe on a monthly basis - or when we feel like it & post it up & if ppl want to attend then well & good - if not - then their loss.
Just my thoughts.
Cheers, Mark

Its been like this for years. And I agree, not everyone turns up to every meet. But if there ARENT any meets, people cant turn up, and also if there is no regular activity people arent going to keep an eye on the board to look for or expect meets.
New potential members wont keep coming back to a "club" that has no activity, hence why its really only the old skool members that turn up.
I'll use mega meet as an example. It was a huge failure due to the lack of local support. Sure, people said they would help organise things for the actual event, but when they were asked to organise monthly meets to bring interest to the club before the event, nothing happened (well one)
Ts chch used to be huge. We used to have meets every thursday night, and one sunday meet a month. Every thursday had a minimum of 12 cars for a LONG time. We used to regularly have one complete side of Harvey norman packed out. Yep, not everyone turned up each week, but most people would turn up usually once a fortnight etc.
A club is only successful if it has 2 major things,
---the biggest and most important is support from members (including the organisers)
---the next is regular activity.
As I said above, if theres nothing worth checking on here, why would people check to see if there is somehting happening?
If people come back time and time again and see the same thing, they will very quickly stop coming back at all.
It all comes down to dedication.
Dedication by all, or ts chch will become even less than it already is.

Yip i agree with most of that with the exception of doing regular activities. guess it depends on what you mean by regular. Sure there were cruises to Akaroa, think through Arthurs Pass?? and all. It was once every few months at that stage aswell as the weekly meet at harvey norman. I didn't have a problem with not doing regular stuff mainly cause nobody could afford to do alot of activities. Probably a case now or just use the recession as an excuse, some may have lost jobs too which won't be helping that.
I know that people organising have limited weekends free to organise something that not everyone joins in. Maybe some regular members need to organise stuff?? Like Toby when he had that house warming?? Hell i even don't care if people just do a movie night which is something we discussed on Sunday,.
