ah i basically explained how/what happened and based on my driving record and the fact tis a diesel van with near on 500kms etc.

seh said they have a contach who has a doctrate (sp) in some sore of transport/automotive engineering or something and last time she had a case that she referred to him he basically said the car coldnt do what the police said it did so the cops dropped the dangerous driving and sustained loss of traction charges, so im hoping for the best but preparing for the worst

If the charge was "did a skid" then you would be toasted, there is definately enough to suggest your wrongdoing was not sustained and arguably you had increased traction for that period of time.


I personally think you shouldn't be convicted of any wrongdoing but you probably will, legal system is almost beyond repair here.

yeah its the whole "Sustained" part that is kinda up to the officers discretion, as is the "EXCESSIVE acceleration" which i think is a bit shit, there is no black and white only grey...

the fact you did it in the front of a group of people will most likely go against your case, no matter how '*clapped out' your '*bogan van on bikkies' is to be honest... lets just hope the cop didnt realise/remember it was on bikkies

*note: 'clapped out' and 'bogan van on bikkies' refers to your earlier posts of the age/kms of the van and the fact its been lowered, has different rear wheels to the front and windows tinted in the opinion of non van liking minds

Hmmmm, tis a hard situation! hopefully it all goes well.

When I first moved back from tauranga to howick i had just blown the head gasket in my ford laser, and got a S14 as replacement . Some nebiours rang up and complained saying they saw me doing skids and burnouts in the laser (funnily enough they said the laser and not the silvia??)

Cop came around to my house, I took him for a drive in the laser after telling him the headgasket was blown, and the car was running but barely, and it was SLOW.

Took him for a drive, up the block aroudn the corner floor'd it for him even dumped the clutch to prove to him nothing would get the wheels in that car spinning

He was happy and went home

Surely you cant have sustained loss of traction and excessive acceleration at the same time unless your van is a 6 second ET drag van

I agree with others here that that whole boyracer law is rubbish, There were laws that covered all of the above anyway

Also why do people insist on only travelling 60-70k on gravel roads, even when they are wide and dead straight, the speed limit hasn't suddenly dropped and there's at least as much grip as a newly wet road. Gets on me nerves that one

I wouldn't compare it to a newly wet road. A newly wet road I can keep traction on, gravel gives the tendency to drift a bit on the road unless its fully bedded in. In my car I also prefer to try and keep the exhaust on my car while some gravel roads have a lovely angle (curve) on them that try and remove it.

2.1 Keeping left
(1) A driver, when driving, must at all times drive as near as practicable to the left side of the roadway unless this rule otherwise provides.

practicable, move the vehicle as far as practicable to the left side of the roadway when this is necessary to allow following traffic to pass.
(3) A driver may drive in the right lane in the direction of travel when driving on a multi-lane road if—
(a) the driver is turning right, or making a U-turn from the centre of the road, and is giving the prescribed signal of that driver's

(c) the left lane is unavailable to the driver; or
(d) the driver is required by any provision of this rule to drive in the right lane; or

Lost license today for 6 months, $500 fine, $130 court costs, plus prob 5-800 lawyer, and $1000 work license.

there are 3 lessons i learnt from this experience

1: Dont do skids

2: If you do, dont get caught

3: If you get caught dont say a word to the police apart from your name.



If i used an 1 of those i would have been away laughing, but hindsights i bitch and shit happens haha
