Loss of licence for 28 days

Ok so I lost my licence for 28 days last night - no excuses and it's my own fault. First time I have ever been pulled up actually. I got caught doing 132km/h in a temporary 70km/h on the Auckland southern Motorway.

I have a couple of questions though:
How far away would my court hearing be normally? Will it affect my trip to Rarotonga in May?
That's all I really care about, my trip to Raro. I'm not grovelling so much over not having a licence or getting a fine but this Raro trip means a lot to me.

when i lost mine for 6 months the court hearing was about 2 months from the time of loss of liecence, so yes, quite potentially it could mess with ur schedule, I believe u can go down to the courts and request a particular day tho, maybe?

If you are proactive about it and give them a call asap and explain the situation, I would hope they would be human about it... if you mess about they probably wouldn't give you the time of day but i find that ive you speak plainly and leave your attitude at the door (not saying you had one in the first place... but just in case) and apeal to someones human side they generally like to help.

I just called a senior traffic officer at Auckland Central station and he said that if the court date falls in the time I am away I can write in and request the date to be pushed forward or back.

He also gave me another option of writng in straight away to the PIB and requesting that I plead guilty now and they will send me a fine and not bother with a court hearing which would suit me best.

I don't care about fighting my case because I have no case to fight really. Theres no excuse for what I did last night, so I'd rather cop my fine now and pay it off right now and deal with the next 28 days car free without worrying about anything else.

Because its a temp 70kph, you'll get your license back after 28 days, and then get handed a big fine, for 32kph over the speed limit.

Thats what happened to me a few years back when I was caught doing 140kph in a temp 80kph.

they almost never put up roadworks signs on the motorway unless they're actually working - except the long-term ones like the section from the Newmarket viaduct to the Greenlane offramp. There's been heaps of roadworks on the Southern lately, including motorway closures after 11pm at Otahuhu and near the Bombays

I've learnt my lesson - (anyone want buy a 2000 Caldina GT-T Manual haha) I sped, I got caught, I lost my privilege (sp?) to drive. Simple as that.

There were a few workers on the newmarket viaduct when the temp speed was 50. But then after Market Road it went up to 70 and yeah there was no one around at all except me at 12:30am, but still no excuse I got busted fair and square - bugger

Tell me about it. I have a policy of not slowing down for roadworks if the roadworks only consist of roadworks signs and cones at the side of the road.

you know there for more than just workers safety. Iv spent the last 3 summers working in road works and often the first half an hour of every day was spent repairing the damage from people who dont slow down for the site from the previous night.

if you do wana try fight your case its often very easy to get off road works speeding fine if any of the signs are not the correct distance from each other or not in the correct place youl get off. go take photos of the site and measure the distances.

Quite hard to do on the motorway.

I failed my restricted for going through a 30km roadworks at the speed of the traffic

if the workers built the roads right in the first place they wouldnt need repairing all the time

Fine will be $630, not sure if you get another $30 as court costs if you write in and plead guilty now.

When I got busted doing 153 in an 80 i went to court, plead guilty and got a $660 fine.

Learned my lesson, only 1 speeding ticket since - 61 in a 50 right after an 80 and i was slowing down. Was pretty bitter about that.

Speeding is one thing - but perhaps I'm un-sure of the area you talk about. Hopefully it's not that bit with the big blue machine? Because whenever I drive past - there's never anyone there to warrant there being a 70kmph limit.
