I have had my share of drive offs etc over the years and only seen it happen 3 times , the last was classic as i stood infront of the lady driving out of the supermarket car park with my baseball bat raised ready to smash her bonnet in,the look on her face was almost worth the dent+scratch.

what really gets me angry is what happened to my partner in hamilton 2 weekends ago

pretty much she was at her friends party when 3 ?prostpect gang members crashed the party out of nowhere smashing people for no reason , then turned on 3 of the cars out the front. One was my partners sirg teg ,which got the wing mirror torn off and a big dent in drivers door. The guys were smashing chicks over and the 20+ at the party were all pretty boys with no balls and did nothing except throw bottles.

10 cops turned up and got one of them even though they came from a house down the street.

what a joke

i was at home with my 6 month old son, but if i were there the baseball bat would have a few more dents in it.

My Rolla was hit twice at Westgate, within two months of me buying it. Both times it was on the rear bumper, which had been resprayed two weeks before I bought it because the previous owner backed into a very small post (which couldnt be seen from the car).

If you are reversing out of a car park, remember to turn after you start reversing and there is enough room for the front of the car to swing.

I think they should stop giving licences out to Old people, Asian People, Young People (anyone younger than me {22yrs}), Females, Poor People with sh*t cars, contractors (they always have dents on the corners), infact all imigrants should lose their licences........

WTF?? Females  I think they should stop giving licences to anyone who hasn't done a defensive driving course and 20 hours with a driving instructor.

I used to get dings every week in my Laser when working at a supermarket, but it was a PoS so wasn't too worried.
Got backed into in my Caldina by an Asian man in a Prado at Wendys last year, he was reversing out of the entrance............ I pulled up when I saw him put his reverse lights on, hit the horn, and he just kept coming... and coming... and then was like "wha... it wasn't myyyyy fault" ... Who reverses out of a one way entrance???

Ah - had that happen - well almost. Some prick was backing out in a big 4wd - didn't see me in my supra - only just got in on the road about 2 weeks earlier. He didn't respond to my horn beeping - but luckly he was moving SO slowly that I was able to jump out of my car - up to his and bang on his door and tell him to stop driving backwards without looking. There were PLENTY of abusive words that came out of my mouth. He was shocked.

But I figure - hey, I'm either going to yell at you - or beat the sh*t outa you....take your pick haha.

Same thing happened to some people I know, was just the two of them (girl n guy) at a camping site in a flat thing, and these guys just raided it, smashed the chick up quite badly. For no reason.

I take it there was another car behind you, hence why you couldn't just reverse out yourself, without having to physically get out and approach the driver?

My old pos run-a-bout got a neat prang. 1993 Nissan Pulsar. Was at my now ex's house backing out when I saw a car coming. I stopped and was stationary on the council owned part of the driveway. completely off the road. Car passed by and no sooner had I got it back into reverse, I felt a bash on my right hand side.... A woman who lived acrossed the road in a Laurel backed out at highspeed and smacked up my back end. No damage other than a scrape to her car. She wasn't insured and she was wanted by the cops for other charges so my insurance didn't even pay out.

Correct! And I wasn't gentle on the horn. Wasn't like there was a few quick blips! I really let him have it for a good 5 seconds (try holding your horn on in traffic for 5 seconds and see who looks hahaha).

And my "physically getting out to approach the driver" saved him a hell of a lot of paperwork and insurance trouble....

I came close a couple of weeks ago - driving onto St Johns Road from Kepa Road from a stop at the lights, guy in a white FX comes barrelling around the corner from St Heliers Bay Road. Thank God for ABS and being quick off the mark from the lights - there was space to my right, but I came well within a foot of nailing his drivers door into him. Got him to pull over and gave him a peice of my mind (firmly, but politely). No apology from him, though...

Geez this is an old thread. I'm now 26, well out of uni & now my new (old) car gets mysterious dents in scratches from public car parks.

One very long, odd looking scratch had me puzzled for weeks - until I figured it was from my mate backing my car through my mum's lemon tree.

My friends have a habbit of taking my car when I'm not looking.

Just a thought- The average size of cars is increasing......but is the size of a standard carpark following suit?

Larger object trying to fit into the same size space = more carnage.

Here is my reasoning why cars are increasing:
Cars are getting bigger because they must be safer.
Cars must be safer because more and more inexperienced/uninterested drivers are behind the wheel, thus crashing more often.
Also there is appeal to Americans effect. Americans like big things and would never buy smallest car on the market. Also many Americans are outrageously fat and would not fit in small '80 Japanese car.

So thanks to idiots who can't drive, and Americans, we have obesity problem with cars. Cars became boringly bland for same reason. Would an "I just want to get from A to B, but I am too lazy to use bus, duh.." person buy an AE86 these days, given a choice between AE86 or normal corolla?

Since cars are now safer even more idiots are driving. Before it was privilege, now it is considered a right.

Better to make him aware of his mistake to lower the chance of them doing it again.

i dont think cars are getting much bigger, think of the battle tanks the Americans had in the 60 and 70.

the average size of cars are increasing.. with each generation/mole they get bigger, look at a corolla for example. Image

and more and more people are buying the 4X4's and luxury saloons ect

some car parks are getting bigger though.. its a brese parking the corolla in the main street of Otrohonga  had a good laugh at someone trying to park a dodge ram with a huge deck in diagonal parks in auckland, it took up about 7 of them..

on another note, some people are just blind.. not long after i got my ute i was backing out of my mates driveway, low visibility and the utes alot longer then the corolla, so was jut backing out slowly and looking both ways to see what i could, was looking right for a bit wen i went to look left again i saw a flash in the rear view mirror, and the whole ute spun about 20 degrees, turns out id hit a nivara in the passengers door, my mate recons he was speeding and he didn't see me, but did minimal damage to the flat deck on my ute and his was going to be a wright of so i admitted responsibility and let my insurance pay (partly cause he didn't have insurance and i didn't want any trouble)
Current:KE30 my baby,ke35 (now going to get the 2t treatment),isuzu spacecab ute
past: AE82 FXGT
