Hi,

Im looking at getting my AE111 dyno tunned by these chaps in the next few weeks to sus out the odd miss fire I have & correctly set the air fuel mixtures

I have a gizzmo CAM FC being used as an AFM(was in the car when I got it) and i think its been set up incorrectly

Has any one used these guys for tuning befor? If so where they any good. Ive spoken with the guys on the phone and they sound like they know their stuff.

Thanks, I dont mind paying for a decent tuner.

They have quoted me 175+gst per hour to tune, they seem the think they could cure the problem in about 2 hours but im budgeting on 4-5hours

Just dont want to pay 200+ an hour for a crap tune.

They sure know how to tune - My car goes there and I keep going back :)

Been on a few other dyno's around Auckland and I know of none that can hold a car quite as well as Torque Performance.

They have a very good dyno - pretty new I think and they're good at getting reliable power. Heck look at Llew - he's making well over 125rwkw out of his 1JZ! :lol: :lol: :lol:

BUT

They are expensive.
1:15.4 around Pukekohe
13.63 @ 169kmph at Meremere
Fastest MK3 at Suprafest 08
1G-GTE - Stinger 4424, T04B 60-1, 440cc injectors - 240rwkw @ 16psi

Yeah but cost when you get a proper tune is worth it.

I mean John uses them and he's making over 550wkw on Mobil 98!!!

What makes the Tourque performance dyno more cabale of holding a car than other rolling roads?

If you are having problems holding the car down wouldn't it be better to just go use a hub dyno?

Torque has invested in making their dyno very easy to strap a car to from multiple points.

People like me can't go on hub dyno's - They just can't read anything due to the high stall converter. Spent quite a few hours at SThitec trying - but no.

Torque have a very good reputation for getting good power from a car reliably, they seem to tune for reliability and longevity rather than peak power (im sure you can ask them to tune for peak power tho)

They do all the re-flashing for new holdens.fords WRX's and evo's

Pretty impressive results too

Good but pricey as everyone says

But just go and read a few of the build threads in here to see what can go wrong if you try and save a buck on tuning.

One not cheaply

Guess which one felt just like a normal car but more powerful and guess which one idled like a pig.

I flicked them e-mail, and see how it goes, as I get other people's feedback about them, and they seem to be best out there.
Plus they are my baseline as dynoed it before getting link.

Seems like all the feedback is positive. I dont mind the price as long as its a good result, The car just needs a light tune to get everything in sync.

Point taken but is there ever a point where a DAMM good tune is too expensive ? hehe. If your there for 4 hours or less then sure no point looking around and taking a chance but if your gong back again and again and it starts to add up then ...........

thats what im getting at really, having had 2 tuners already, both have given me no satisfation.

They (torque performance) got back to me with a very reasonable quote to tune my GT4.
I am not going to share exactly how much (don't want to undercut anyone), but I think I will go with them.

yeah i think thats a tad bit different to your first comment, in reference to mine.

Basically point is always there that you get what you pay for, but there is a difference between good & expensive and good & slightly higher. You expect to pay a little more for someone thats good, but there comes a point where one starts to think is the tuner expensive. Sure each persons perception is different but thats just my opinion.

fair enough, i guess my perception is now that $$ dosent matter, what does is the tune, i have spent $2k on tuning already and car is still not right.

when a person does not percieve value they will always argue the price.

TBH i would have been better off with an "expensive" tune in the first place as it most likley would have saved me $$ now

true that, i know what you mean, in the long run when you look back at things its sometimes hits you that you should have done this or that, eg for my starlet i went wth a microtech because it cost me like 8-900 bucks with wiring loom and ecu (second hand) but after not getting it right with a few tuners, locking it and then sending it back to aus for unlocking (450) etc etc it has worked out about the same as a link ecu which i would have saved a lot of hassle by going to in the first place ..
