A little OT but...I recently became the proud owner of a mint r31 TI skyline. Took me ages to find one in good con...picked it up at night and drove it straight home. The next morning I drove it 5 k to have it professionally cleaned inside and out by a team of super efficient Japanese peoples. Drove it just one more K when a lady reversed into me at an intersection. She thought she was too far out so backed up..but somehow managed not to see the huge white bulk behind he that was my r31 AND my mates noisy as s14! i couldn't believe my luck. After I calmed down, I managed to see the funny side of it and had a bloody good laugh  I got 300 bucks out it, so alls well that ends well.

i went to a party in te awamutu and when i came out there were dents where some one had been throwing bottles at my car (i guess that what it was) they knew they had done it cause each one had rub marks on them where they gone up to inspect there damage.
also went to a tire shop and the guy lifted the jack handle to high and dented my door. both times i had to remind myself that its an ae92 with over 500k on the clock and left it at that.
yesterday however i was driving my sisters car through a cycle race in hamitlon and one off the officails decided my driving was unsatifactory and booted the door. this got me pretty wound up. luckily for me im of rather unimposeing stature (read woosed out) abd didnt do anything stupid but im still pretty wound up about it and will be taking the matter further.

most road cyclists are wankers tho. they dont pay a cent towards the road but then think they own it and have no problems breaking all the road rules.

Good you put "most" there.

Some of us are courteous (well try to be depending on road).

I hit up one of my workmates about running lights, stop signs etc. He said well what are people going to do? Take down my number plate?!

Those cyclist i too hate

Most of them have 1 or 2 cars in the garage and are saving road tax by doing a $&#$% load less damage than if they were in a car, but don't let the facts get in the way of your argument.

Can you post the facts that show most cyclists have 1-2 cars sitting idle in their garages?

Keen to see these facts/proof 8)

I have 3.5 at home, also have 4 bikes.

Though bikes get ridden about as much as cars get driven = sweet f.a.

On other note I think it is unfair to pay licence for two cars while being able to drive one at a time.

its great wen they ride side by side along scenic drive, sit behind them for 2mins because rds too narrow to pass, manage to get past then know theres a hill coming up so go real slow so they lose all momentum , had one guy throw his water bottle at me doing that so i threw one back

 I'd probly do the same (as what you did). No one likes people that are just plain inconsiderate. Hell I even pulled off the road into a driveway the other week so that the car behind would get past without having to pass on a corner

i have no problems with road cyclists getting and using proper cycleways. i do get pissed off by road cyclists trying to take over narrow roads designed for cars with steep gradients and blind corners and act like the drivers are the bad guys for traveling at the speed limit.

Why are people quoting me? :P

I'm just keen to see the mentioned facts about most cyclists having 1-2 cars at home while you ride to work / whatever. I have 3 cars and only 1 on the road. Zero bikes, being knocked off twice at highschool gave me great motivation to get my drivers license.

Plus I don't like spandex pants, each to their own

OT:
The Government is looking to get rid of New Zealand's right hand rule as part of a range of measures announced today to make roads safer.

IMO the rule works fine (if its the one i'm thinking of), just like any rule, its only a problem if people don't follow it! I find at least half of people don't give way when they are supposed to in this situation. Is it due to the rule itself? No, its due to the fact the drivers don't know the rule. I guess if they get rid of it there will be no excuse for not knowing the rule though. I find the only rule that always applies is the bigger car gets right of way  People certainly give way more often if i'm in my work van as opposed to my car.

changing the rules is a stupid idea - it works fine
my work ute has a big bull bar, and its not mine, so i just make sure i look like im going to push my way through if people dont want to give way. it seems to work.... PS Ford utes have shitty horns
the caldina on the other hand has a good horn, and when you launch at people that arent going to give way with the horn blasting and an angry face on/hand gensures, they soon get the idea that they are in the wrong ;)

I have no problem with right hand rule, I look at it this way - get hit in the drivers door and you were in the wrong (for uncontrolled intersectons etc)

yeh this rule is awesome i have a work van and big ladders overhanging on top great fun when people dont give way, they say it sometimes causes a bit of a hold with the traffic behind but could you imagine what the traffic would be like for people turning right if they change it

hahaha I couldn't agree more, my Ford Courier work ute has a horrible horn. Who remembers the old ford add where there's those guys who have other utes and they talk like their balls han't dropped then this guy in a ford rocks up and talks with a deeeeeeeep voice? That horn must be those other guys addition to ford because they sound mega gay haha

I'm an occasional road cyclist & regular mountain biker. I pay road tax(i.e. car registration, trailer registration, acc levies etc) & lots of petrol tax through my turbo 4wd.

I stick to the left as much as possible - I know I'm not going to win against a car; but fu*kers still try and run me off the road for no good reason. They still cut me off, pull out in front of me deliberately.

BTW: what damage is a 7kg bike going to do to ashfelt? Do you seriously think its equitable to pay the same road tax as a car - and cyclists do fund roading through other forms of taxation.
