Toyota Opa

Anyone know anything about these? Are they good? Common faults etc?

Yes... I know they're uguly, but I need to find a replacement for my mum's 95 Corolla, and these are substantially cheaper than the equivilent 2000 - 2004 Corolla's.

Is is from the dog and lemon guide. I havent included every bit of info but this is just the main bits.

Opa is a European term for grandfather and is the station wagon version of the Vista. The Opa is designed for easy access for old people and people with disabilitities. The passengers seat is motorised and can turn 180 degrees, making it easy for the elderly to get in and out. The rear has storage space designed for a wheelchair.

* On direct injection engines ( 3S-FE, 1AZ-FSE) seem to carbon up and run roughly if they are on regular petrol, this dosen't seem ot occur if they are run on premium.

* Opa models built betwwen 10 May 2000 and 8 March 2001, the fuel pump may leak, the serial/lot number on the engine should be checked and if it is between 0019117 and 0280628, the fuel pipe should be repllaced with the factory approved replacement unit and the check valve should be retightened, if the problem has been fixed in Japan there will be a yellow paint below the vehicle type plate in the engine bay

Oh and avoid the Opa's with CVT transmissions

My mum bought a Toyota Raum, Slightly better looking than the opa imo, a little smaller but loads of room inside and easy to get in/out of, rear door slide open like a van.
Cheap to run as it has a 1600cc engine, cheap to buy as well, basically is a corolla engine/drivetrain in a different shell

yea my parents have a raum as well they love it and they really simple too. and my mother has back problems and is verry accsessable for her to i would recomend a raum over a opa

An auntie of mine has one, Nice car to drive, Has enough pick-up for the average driver and nice and comfortable on the open road
