power affects how fast you get to those speeds. the faster you accelerate the less reaction time you have.
more power = more chance for a suden loss of traction.

But, what this country needs far more than ANYTHING suggested so far is a proper compulsary driver training system.
Teach people to drive. Not just how to pass a simple test... but to actually control a car.

I'm with you on that one Rev. Thats what they have in Japan.

Although the stuff they do in Finland is pretty hardcore!
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

OMG i think this will be the first post i have agreed fully with you on rev.

and to all the doubters, think for a second about the posts i have just made. more power = more problems. young dudes in cars making 200kw or more are more lethal than those in a 4afe corolla.

While strictly true, one could argue that so long as your speed at any given moment is appropriate for conditions and speed limit the rate at which it is changing is irrelevant as you could be cruising at the same speed and have the same amount of reaction time.

Yep, sort of. The faster the acceleration, they higher a chance of a loss of tracion or snap oversteer or somehting like that. assuming you have enough power for that

and that would be part of driver training, ie learning to drive ot the conditions!
