Yes. With LOTS of money or your own fabrication skills... which I'm sure has been mentioned before in this thread.

if you have most of that in the bank now, then you may have a chance. But I will be very surprised if it can be done for $15k.
But I think you will need to do engine, brakes and suspension etc all at once. or at least mock it all up etc....
Remember you're not moddifying it, you are re-engineering the whole car.
so you will need to plan most of it (yes there will be alterations as you go) before you start.
Once you have a plan, and by plan I mean exactly what needs to be cut/welded/built/bashed etc and how you will do that, then you need to talk to mr cert man if this is intended to be a road car.

I see loads of Vtec turbos getting traction. I don't see why a 3S-GTE wouldn't get traction. Only a 4age is powerful enough to continously lose traction.
PLUS WHY THE #$%^ would you spend so much money for something that's barely on par with a celica. Just to be different? Unique? Grow up.
On straight line, you may be a tad faster but I doubt you could re-design the suspension geometry better than Mr Toyota did on the celica a decade ago.
Complete waste of time and money and effort IMHO. It's one of those things that it'd be cool to look at. But NOT something i would do on my own car with my own money.
Complete fail idea imho.

All depends on whether you can drive, what you intend to use the car for and how much power you intend on having. There are plenty of FWD 3SGTE powered cars that get along just fine.
If I were you I'd go down the 4AGTE/7AGTE route. $15k won't get you a whole lot if you end up going down the 3SGTE route...especially if you choose to change from FWD to RWD/AWD

Sounds to me like you are planing on running it 4WD with an east/west engine,
basically making a GT4 box into 2wd mode.
Can be done, but say X hp is std and what you get,
all the parts are only designed to hold 1/2 that,
so the rear diff will only take 1/2 of X hp,
It will be unreliable and costly, but possibly not that hard to do,
but still not worth it. The suspension pickup points are not designed for RWD driving, a 4WD car is basically all FWD setup with some power to the rear wheels.
Also you will still have all the disadvantages of 4WD anyway,
you loose about 12% of your hp by changing drive direction by 90 deg,
and you still have to do that twice like a 4WD rather than once like a RWD,
as you will still need a centre diff to do that,
If you plan to run a north south engine then it is a mission.
We have done it 3 times now,
2 AE101's and a Focus.
problems like the steering rack ends up through the middle of the bellhousing etc etc.
Not school holidays yet is it?

i was out getting ae111 rear hubs in Trentham today and the guy i got them from has converted his ae111 levin to 4wd. st185 rear subframe etc, driveshaft etc is in there and he is running a gt4 gearbox ...
Hes budgeting for $16,000 and is doing very well so far and he is fabricating most parts himself. He has a 3agte there but is going to be using a blacktop 4agte
Very interesting project thats for sure!

Would be a good conversion doing it and leaving it fwd... then if u realy want go awd later.... i have a st205 3sgte in my toyota curren and LOVED IT!. loved it more when i got the LSD box into it! Sick of seeing people bag ideas, I was lucky as its all a direct swap! except the rear engine mount when runing the LSD box as rear gbox mount is incorrect! if u have a non superstrut curren! evan the looms are basicly the same just had to change 1 pin round and wire w2a pump in.. Wont be that hard at end of day to put a 3sgte into a levin for fwd... going awd would be very cool... and evan i have thort of doing this but i ended up just geting a evo 5 hah. but oneday i mite evan try this conversion my self...
infact if anyone has a dereged rolling body they wana get rid of! ill buy it for a mock up design.....!

It's called a reality check. Best done before you go spending a lot of money. It's been done before and people are offering advice, good advice.
Mlewis, I sugest you move away from wellington, people there are far too concerned with image
Just to tip this thread in a new direction.... Why keep the engine in the front?
SW20 3S-GTE & running gear in the back. You would need to lose your rear seats, but rear seats in a 111 are useless anyways.
Seen this done in a 101 series somewhere before.
Food for thought..
*EDIT* for your 15K plus your Levin, you would be pretty close to buying a factory fast / flash / new car. Think: Keywords: RX7, RX8, Turbo R34, close to 350Z territory, Turbo Altezza, maybe a turbo JZA80, JZX100.....
Is it worth sinking 15k into a levin? I mean really? After spending almost that much on my RX7's engine package (just the engine, ecu, fuel system & turbo) I've realised that its close to being a deposit on a house. Would pay to think awhile before splashing out this much on a 111.
