Building NZ's Fastest st206 Curren

Postby chrisarmo86 » Fri Mar 19, 2010 9:36 pm

Basically I am looking for any info on NZ's fastest/ most powerful toyota curren. Cant seem to find anything on the net about the curren at all. I know infinti has a turbo one, but I want an official E.T/dyno plot to go by.

Over the next 6 to 12 months I am going to give my st206 the boost treatment. Im hoping to finish up with a 200kw atw fwd on factory internals.

Anyone got any advice, or insights? Would love to make this a reality

lolz thats what I thought. Does anyone know how safe id be running no more than 4-6psi through a T28 on my stock internal 3sge?

I can get the turbo gear quite cheap and i will be fabricating all the manifold/ IC plumbing, so im goin to do a conservative budget build while i build up a forgied 3sgte over winter

Should be alright, though you'll need a different ECU to do it.

Slightytwisted turbo'ed his FWD Celica, and I'm pretty sure Infinite was going to or did the same with his Curren. They should be able to provide you with heaps of advice, but be warned- it's expensive to do, you'll lose lots of traction (as in tyres) and did I mention you'll spend lots of $?

You'd be better off (and I really hate to say this, really I do) buying a GT4 and putting up with the fuglyness of it [puts flame suit on], or putting the Curren front end on like they do in the states.

I was contemplating modifying the back end of my Curren years back by grafting the floor pan of a GT4, but then for the $ involved, and it still wouldn't have the same abilities as a stock GT4... nah. :( my 2c anyway.

Up to you, your money, good luck!

Just put a 3SGTE in it. An unopened [non caldina] 3SGTE + a few bolt ons will happily make a reliable 200wkw without breaking a sweat.

as said, drop in a late model 3SGTE and your away. Probably easier, cheaper and more reliable than turboing a 3SGE.

Does your curren have the factory LSD trans?

some ST204 are getting FWD 250kw, also might be a good idea to run an mr2 lsd gearbox (and convert the linkages to fwd) better gear ratios for boosting than the S54 your running now

Id agree, not much point spending cash on a turbo conversion for the standard 3sge if you just going to drop it out and replace it with a 3sgte after winter.

Leave the car standard and spend the cash on the 3sgte you want to build. Do it once do it right i say

200kw doesnt seem that much.
Im making 180kw atw with gt28r on 17psi of boost.
I need a bigger turbo, im sure the tiny 28r is pumping hot air.
