Hey guys

Some chick mate of mine (No Alex its not me......) is wanting to buy this car.

I know almost nothing of late model nissans that dont come with RB's or SR's so can you guys shed some light

Your thoughts on the car and the asking price.

They're cheap on gas and plenty reliable. We used to have a few (~100) at a car rental place I worked at a few years ago and it wasn't rare to see them with 300,000kms on the factory motors with just routine maintenance.

couldn't recommend it, we have replaced 2 timing chains on these due to stretching. The Nissan dealer down the road have done heaps of them too. They eat Coils and Air Flow Meters and a few ecu faults too.

all nissans seem to do this,

chain stretch! holy crap! didnt know they did that, i thought the whole idea of using a chain was to stop stretching and breaking,

I can confirm from my days at car yard, that these things have problematic chains.

Funny that, my cousin had a Wingroad, and the chain had plenty of problems.
He swapped it with a Pathfinder and couldn't be happier.

I've done a chain on one of those engines too. Drive one first if your/her heart is set on one. They're not that nice to be honest

Heh, engines on Pathfinders... thats another can of worms entirely

i know that a wingroad made me look pretty stupid when I couldn't figure out how to start for about a minute

My old work vehicle was a wingroad, had exactly this issue, Stretched timing chain, basically you would be going up a hill or trying to pass and then the auto box would change down and the engine would start revving and you would be deaccelerating, not fun to drive at all.
