Well have just sold my MR2 GT after a love hate relationship with the thing. Now have itchy feet to get into another toy that is perhaps easier to work on. Pretty much something that loves the twistys, not so interested straight line, altough will be keent to do the odd track day as well.

Open to pretty much anything, even hondas, up to around 3k or so.

So far my thoughts have been along the lines of:
Starlet GT
Vtec civics, integras, crxs

And thats about as far as I can think at the moment, having a real mental block.

Any suggestions?

GT starlet has plenty of potential for a fun track car!

Shocks/springs/whiteline adjustable rear sway bar and some power mods ftw

I thought i'd find you something good on trademe, but um yeah, apparently 3k doesn't buy a very fun car these days

EF9 Civic, 3k is a pretty tight budget tho..

Yeah 3k seems a bit tight to find somthing fun, not like back in the old days :wink:

Other option I'm tempted by is to buy a offroad racing RC buggy and just get some kicks from that :lol:

$3k gets naff all in the way of fun cars these days.

There's that blacktop powered AE91 five door hatch that was advertised here for $2k. That'd be speed with extreme stealth.

Needs certing obviously 1500-1600cc 5E (?) to 4AGE. But still a lot of car.

Yeah, Brett's AE91 would be heaps of fun, and it wont cost a grand to get a cert either

I was about to suggest that, I've been riding for just over a year now and it's so damn fun. I was afraid about the whole killing myself thing, but so far so good, I ride pretty much every day and have had very few close calls. It's a great new experience after 10 years of driving cars, and it doesn't cost much to get a bike which performs really quite well.

I've always fancied a bike, but always have the fear of killing myself on one. Hmmm perhaps a dirt bike could be some fun.

The fact that you do have a fear of killing yourself probably makes you more qualified to start biking than most people. The ones that do die are the ones who think they are invincible and nothing will ever happen to them. As long as you have good situational awareness and good impulse control, you can be safe on a bike.

I'm not so sure that I have good impulse control, but I've managed to curb some of my silliness since I first started riding...

If that is your bike Malcolm then the ZXR 250 is a very fun and stable bike.

And quick.

I could push mine up the Rimitakas and keep on the tails of the 600's and 1000 CC's as long as you did not have to slow down too much.

But you are so much more open to people that just drive on auto pilot and never look.

I got taken out but some dumb dits that just did not even look at all.
Then when she took me out did not even stop :evil:

I am itching to get another one but it is just so practical to have a car where you can take people.
And if you get a zippy little one in the city you can still have fun.

I was thinking something less than 4 wheels too. If you've got some sense then the bike will be perfectly safe. Cheap one would be good for track days too, though invest in some decent gear if you're going to start doing that
