Yup need a race licence. I go up to Manfield often as I have mates that race in F3 and F2. Sometimes Clubmans as well. If you wanna get a 250 i would recommend something like either a CBR250RR or a ZXR250. Both good bikes IMO

Okay cheers. So to get a race license, do you need a road license? One for track use could be great fun, but don't have a bike license at present. Also, I am 6ft 2, so perhaps may struggle to fit a 250??

i'm 6'1 and pretty comfortable on my zxr250, apparently the zxrs are slightly larger than a cbr250 but I haven't been on one of them to compare. I did have a mate who was 6'2 with a cbr and never heard him complain about it

I'm doing a track day on the 18th of April with the Auckland Motorcycle Club. You need a road legal bike, helmet, gloves, boots, 1 or 2 piece leathers and a back protector. It is run like any car trackday with groups made up of similar speed riders, leaving pits 5ish seconds apart. There are instructors there included in the price who help you improve during the day. The first one costs $140 and includes AMCC membership, then members get to pay $100 per track day from there on. So once you have the inital setup costs covered it's a pretty cheap way to go fast.
