I had a look around the site, and the hot air to real information ratio is running at 8427 to 1.

Have a look at the motorsport tab. Basically they are knocking themself out to give the impression that they are putting up a race track (they think that they are going to be the biggest testing facility in NZ). But in reality, what they *might* be able to achieve is a sealed area in which you can do a motorkhana.

So that, and the general vibe I get from the site is that they are big noters.

I wish them all the success in the world, but the impression I have got, is that they are building a car park, and trying to talk it up rather a lot. Why not just say "we want to put down some tarmac and do car stuff on it", and leave it at that ...

Was talk of a similar thing here a few years ago.

Yes, but by the time they buy the land, pay legal fees etc for the resource consent there might be enough left over for something about the size of a tennis court :twisted:

Don't knock it too hard... It would be awesome to see it happen, and although it's unlikely to happen for 3.5m we can hope that more funding gets put in.

IMO the way to go about it would be to build a short track like the old Taupo circuit - 1.5-2km long. Taupo used to be the benchmark circuit for lap times because of its layout, and that "romance" has been lost by the new developments.

Very keen for a club level race circuit....

That website was put up because so many people were asking questions.
Its not ment to go into indepth detail. Why would they want to do that?

Nothing ever got done by glass half empty attitudes, but I guess thats where you get to after working for MSNZ for a time. Might as well find a brick wall to bang ya head on.
