1999 corolla wagons - same shape as ae101 ?

Postby XSVWGN » Tue Apr 20, 2010 2:21 pm

hey guys i have been searching on trademe at some wagons and there are some wagons which are the ae100/ ae101 shape but are being sold as 1999 corollas which would make them an ae111 model.

I thought from November 1997 the model changed to ae111 which would also mean the tail lights change etc too.

Anyone shed any light on this?

There is no AE111 Corolla WAGON as such, there is Carib/Rosso, but not corolla. Although I might be wrong here.

There sure is Sergei, I have one!

Yes the 101 shape wagon was continued until 2001ish alongside the ae111 variants. No idea why.

you hava Spacio  ?

Is the back looks like carib?

Do you have pics?

Must be NZ new Corolla with Carib body and with different front...

like this one? http://www.trademe.co.nz/Trade-Me-Motor ... 758469.htm
That is still carib. What makes me think it is more Carib than Corolla? Vertical pillar lights. Every carib had that.
There is no AE111 JDM corolla wagon as such appart fro Corolla Rosso that is a 90% carib with round lights (and most of them came in pinkish red).

Yep one of those.
Later "caribs" shared the nz new front as well, was as those rosso's.
Only the 101's were badged corollas. Ae111s were corollas everywhere except japan.

It interesting to note that JDM Corolla Wagons were AE101s, and they continued to be produced along with Caribs (AE111) and also received a facelift along the lines. Face lift consisted in ugly tail lights and nice clear head lights, different bumper and other minor stuff.
They also ran blacktop and later ones were 6 speed (but no LSD).

1998 was the first of the round headlights AE11* series.

AE11* series started in 1995 with a number of years overlaps as i think you can still get AE10* shape G Touring wagons first reg'd 2001.

thinking about it, station wagons are what have bucked the trend from most manufacturers.

the 1986-1989 BF shape Mazda 323/Familia/Ford Laser, the wagon was continued thru till around 1997, despite the other models stopping in 1989.

The 1991-1995 CB Libero/Lancer wagon stopped around 2003 despite the lancer sedan stopping in 1995

there are probably other exampls but those are the most common 2 that spring to mind.
