None of the fast RWD cars I can think of have TC on them,
ex V8 supercars, None of the Enduro cars, none of the OSCA cars down here, not on NZV8's,

We played with launch control and Traction control on my car and on the XR6T Focus, and always found it was better if you drove it properly without it. Even though it could break into wheelspin from 180K.

If you need TC, you need to learn to drive.

I did say fastest, none of the cars you have mentioned are in that category.

Fastest cars in the country at present are GT1(except the go-cart Porsches) by a large margin.
All the GT1 frontrunners have traction control.

This isn't because they can't drive, this is because a computer can calculate wheel speed and modulate power infinately faster than a human can who has to do it by feel.
Despite what most people think, the driving aids in new cars ie, EBD, ABS,ESC, TC are way better than they are.

Wow now we have "Forced" mark 2

Makes statements but then won't back them up awesome work !!!!!!

Real drivers don;'t need driver aids, jsut ask the F1 boys it all about drive control and feeling

And that will be why the WRC cars are 4wd also, the boys can't drive

I think you'll find it's because we find them a wee bit too slow in anything other than perfect conditions ie, fast dry track.

You'll also find that all the fastest RWD race cars in the country have very sophisticated traction control systems or are Porsches which handle like go carts anyway.

WRC cars are 4wd as they were orginally most rallys were done off road and 4wd gave a large traction advanatge, you have to remeber that this was brought in by Audi in the days of 600hp group b maddness

In sayng that thou Lancia won a few world titles in this period with a rwd only car

As for WRC Seb Lobe showed early on in before he was drivng a full WRC car that you don't need 4wd to win a WRC round I remeber him dominating a couple of the early tarmac rally in a 2wd n/a Shitron

^^ I think this was a nice way of telling you to go away and troll elsewhere :) This topic was started to congratulate Matt Dunn on an awesome result - not to listen to you trolling about 4wd's/evo's/whatever else you're on about this time. If you want to talk about Evo's, go to MMC - or are they all sick of you too?

So, the following conclusions can be made:

Matt Dunn did bloody well in the SS2000 round at taupo. He has a fast car, and can drive it.

There is a bloody awesome Datto in SS2000

And finally Scott is jealous of both

Uhhh, you mean F1 where launch control, traction control, ABS and just about everything else of the sort is banned?

They most definitely make a car faster than just a driver going by 'feel'...

Otherwise there'd be no one using them, and no point in banning them.

Unless a driver has 4 feet or some other way of controlling each corner of the car's braking power individually, there's no way a good driver can brake as well as a well setup ABS system.

Same as with traction control etc, by the time you've noticed and reacted, the event has already occured well past the point where a computer could have made a difference.

So you would be happy to watch motor sport with no drivers and super computers batting it out then?

I think it was Frank Williams in the early 1990s who had said that the driver was going to be redunant shortly becasue the computer would soon be able to do a better job

Heh nope.

A car can be fast with or without ABS/traction control/etc but when you're gunning for 10/10ths then the computer aids can make all the difference.

Aside from cost and complexity, I'd say another reason they're banned is because it makes it more interesting to watch seeing people lock up wheels, spin off the line and lose grid position, etc etc. 8)

if you want to build something super uber fast that does lap times consistantly to the millisecond, then by all means, the electronic aids, controls, etc, are quite possibly the way to go.

but if you want to watch a race that is pitting people against each other, their brains, their reactions, their cockups, and tactics, then people will never be taken out of the equation. it's the human aspect that makes it interesting, as bad as it sounds, human error, and taking advantage of that.

to get a feel, watch a replay from a racing game, with a couple of people playing, and the rest of the field being AI. ai's sitting there doing consistant laps, perfect lines, gets real boring, then you see the people battling it out between them, ducking and diving through the other traffic, accidental taps, bit too much throttle out of the corner, or not right braking line into them. soo much more interesting. then put that on the race track, lol.

TC on a road car definatly has it's advantages,
makes it safe for your mum to druve your supra to the shop in the wet.

And ABS/ESP etc all have there places in road cars too,
definatly a good idea on most road stuff.

Well there you go, I dont follow GT1 and have no intrest in the Tranzam types cars, they are not really cars anyway to me, just tubes, tyres, and an engine.

Dont think so, thats why he has issues around taupo trying to get the power to the ground.

Was I not the fastest car at Super lap, power down easy. TC for others not me. Time for another super lap I say WOF need dot rated tryes. My money is on Matt 1 me 2 then the rest. Good season Matt well done.

Im just saying if you could have gotten your power down better your times would be insane. Matt said he had this issue of getting the power down.
