Many years ago me and my dad were doing up a 51 Ford. All the interior was out and it ad to go to the painters, so we used apple crates for seats.

BMW 328i coupe had the ABS light on the dash one day and needed a WOF.

Checked all the sensors, fuses, relay boxes. All seemed ok. Took to BMW to get plugged in, came back with faulty ABS control unit (inlet valve). BMW offered to replace at $1500 + labour + gst. No thanks. They also offered the services of a bloke somewhere in the North Island that repairs them for around $700. I decided it could be done on the cheap.

Had a hunt on the net, found out that BMW used some pretty shitty cellophane type wiring for the control unit to link up the solenoids, over a matter of time, rather than use, it breaks down and it throws the light up.

So off to the the old mans place, with $0.50 worth of wiring, we crack out the control unit, rewire it, put it back in, bleed the brakes. No more light and WOF the following day

I was working on a project car and the owner wanted to see the motor running so we had it strapped to the chassis on blocks of wood with the coolant in a random leaky radiator, the fuel pump was fed by a 3 litre juice bottle (EFI) and I got a toyota dash working on it for a "temp" job. it was an EJ20 on a navara chassis with a 1952 ford pickup cab. What more could you want for rangi? (there was cable ties)

bent over nails instead of split pins

blew one of those big square fuses in my fuse box, repaired it by rolling up the shiny silver paper out of a cigarette box and shoved it in, by the time i got to repco it was smuldering

hmm i must find that pic of when i used a peice of solid non insulated copper wire as an HT lead to get a silvetop going

Just this weekend we used a table spoon massaged into the clucth fork on a mates 4x4 comp truck as a hole had warn through it
