Should ban driving too, as have you seen how the majority of people that drive cars do skids etc? Its just not on! Its nothing to do with the fact they are munters, its because they are associated to cars. Therefore, using the same theory we can conclude that anyone that drives a car is an idiot.

if there is no relationship between rugby and excessive alcohol consumption, why is the government going to put a special amendment into new liquor legislation to allow pubs to stay open later during the world cup??

I don't see whats so hard to understand here...
In NZ there is a culture of drinking, there is a culture of rugby. And there is ALSO a culture of rugby teams/heads drinking and hanging out in packs getting into brawls and general b/s. Can be seen in anywheresville NZ.
Have witnessed it personally in:
Timaru
Oamaru
Dunedin
Christchruch
Nelson
Napier
Palmerston North

That is, as I mentioned before, the teams themselves in thier jackets etc hanging out in packs, getting to fights etc.
You notice a huge increase in it during rugby season.
Got so bad here teams colours and uniforms were banned from pubs and bars in the central city.

Never said there wasn't a relationship.

Hell there is a relationship between having a hard day at work and wanting a cold beer afterwards. As they exist alongside each other in many peoples lives.

If the new laws were in place though, I doubt they would have had any amendments. It would just be tough luck, those are the rules.
