What type of tyres do you have?

For everyday driving - the Eagle F1 takes it.

Yeah, I found these were good tyres I had on a set of my Soarers wheels.

I was looking to get a new set but a good tyre man I was talking to said to avoid them now as most are made in China (ehh) and have problems with even weights and balance due to the way they make them, so basically they are not linear through out the width etc.

Quite scary hence why Im trying to avoid buying a lot of China stuff these days especially food, you dont know whats in it! But....... thats another story!!


Shit thats interesting to no I run the GSD3 F1s and my 255/40/17s were also made in Germany but my 285/40/17s were made in the U.S.A so now you reckon there all made in China.I heard all there common sizes were made in Aus well thats what I heard anyway 235.225,215 and so on.
In the end I ended up going for some Dunlop Sport Maxx tyres made in Germany, even better tyres. But the original Eagles I had were made in Germany.... sadly they are not these days as far as I know.

I had run a lot of sets of GSD3 (4), all but last were German made, the last set is Chinese, although I cannot really complaint, maybe it is psychological, but there is something wrong with them, minor thing, like they tend to wander little bit on straight line sometimes (sometimes I feel like one of the tyres is low but turns out being ok), and they are noisier than German set.

Well, I will not buy GSD3s any more due to fact that they are made in China.

Chinese have really bad attitude towards work ethics and quality control, no matter what they are making.

Now for next set I will need to find something made in Germany/Japan (not USA, they are almost as bad as Chinese) and as good as German GSD3 was.

they are still gonna have the gsd3 in a fair few sizes so don't fret ladies, yes that is the replacement, according to the experts at goodyear it performs almost exactally the same as the original one but is far better in the wet than the old one.

I to am a Goodyear GSD3 F1 fan my best experience with them was at Manfield in the wet managed a 1.24 and I've been sold on these ever since.I found the wider sizes have all been made in the U.S 275,285 etc I have found the quality of these really good and they wear really well.I have done several track-days with these tyres on Manfield and the A1 track at Taupo and they were great in the dry also.As long as I kept normalising the tyre pressures the tyres worked really well.

The falken fk452 came a very close second to the new F1 asymmetric in the lastest wheels tyre test so they can't be to bad.. don't know about the wear on them though, that was one of the main things that I like about the gsd3's was they lasted well for the performance.

Yeah I read the wheels review also and the falkens looked good, even beating the goodyears in one or two areas iirc. I've had a few sets of falkens and they were always good, but it was 7 or 8 years ago and the models are no longer available.

I've just bought a version 8 wrx, and it came with a full set of brand new BCT (bejing capital tyres) on it which i do not trust at all... they are quite slippery, but i did find them on trademe for under $100 for a new 17 inch tyre. Guess I will be in the market for some new ones once i sell my old car.

i just got a full set of MY-01s in 205/40R17 on my 101 fxgt due to firestone running a good deal on them.... they are shit. the almost completely bald toyo proxes4 on the front and the nankang ns1s on the back handled better even in the wet.

the MY-01s just seem to be sloppy and i'm getting a twitchy rear end i mean wtf

Pretty much everything I have herd about them is that they are shit. I was going to get some, but RE001's were only $20 more a corner and are apprently a much better tyre.

RE001's are awesome! Got myself some, lots of grip and I have pushed them pretty hard on the twistys.

Ive got RE001s on the Swift in 215/40/17, and to be honest im not overly impressed. Will be going to T1R next time i think.

I had a set of 205/50R15 Dunlop Dirrezas on the back of my NA MR2. They were OK but still quite a bit of wheel spin.

Now I have 205/55R15 T1Rs and they grip so much better. I can power through corners with little wheel spin, if any. But that could be due to a higher profile and a wheel alignment.

I'll be putting 225/50R15s T1Rs on the back when I get the last tyre from Japan and putting the 205s on the front. Then my car should be alot better. Using old 195/60R14 Potenza G3s on the front atm, which are alot better than the hard compound Falken tyres I had before.

Re001's are good.

But they can be a bit slippery in the wet if your pushing it. Still they're 100 times better than MY-01's which are worse than almost any other tyre I have tried. Ice skates would be grippier than them in the wet.
