Yea I'm loving it ah, really surprised with how it goes, exceeded my expectations of a Corolla!

I'll look at getting a few bits of pieces for it over the next we while. Trying to find a good intake and filter from somewhere, if someone could point me in the right direction?

Is it recommended to pay a little more and get the filter down in front of the wheel for the cooler air?

Your better off getting a replacement panel filter, Dont expect 100HP by replacing the filter or airbox But something like a K&N is a little less restricting and is cleanable, Simota also do a similar one

Hey do you mind me asking how much you paid and where you found it? I'm looking at these at the moment, seems around $10k gets you one with 140kms, $13k - $14k looks like you get a mint low kms later model...not really sure if its worth the extra though.

Yea I was thinking about doing that for now, how much are they roughly? I wasn't expecting big gains, but more air more torque more hp, maybe 4hp but still a gain. And a nice growl when vvti kicks in. :D

I noticed the factory box has a nice cold air intake setup, pipe running from the box to near the headlight. So prob get the same benifit out of a k&n panel and the factory "cold air" box ah?

Paid 11,750 & was advertised for 12,500. Private sale North Shore, Auckland.

Mint! Can you post an interior pic? The Allex seem to be quite different trim-wise to the RunX

Was just having a look at this: http://www.gripmotorsports.com/pi~pn~in ... -1868.html

Injen setup seems a pretty good deal at $194 US?

Again it comes to the panel / pod argument which I hear different things about.. Ideal would be custom intake / pod cold air box, or custom intake pipe to factory box with aftermarket panel I would say.

Pod plus no heat shield seems pointless..

Ideas?

i dare say something designed in 2001 was designed pretty well id say the intake would be fairly good youd only be comprimising something like sound or emmisions if you were to gain anything if not make it worse, they usually have pretty good intake resonation.

just a drop in replacement i say also keeping stock for resale value, i certainly look closer and would rather buy something that looks nice and stock in the engine bay than something that has a dirty pod in it...

For sure and that is why I keep the originals and put back before sale.. :D

I like original look too so most likely will go down the panel filter path. I'm not wanting the car to remain stock and for A to B only purpose. I'm a car enthusiast and spend money on them, upgrade what can be upgraded etc, so I'm not interested in just leaving everything original when it can be upgraded.

lol I'm over turbo's and the gas bill for now, just sold one. I'd quite like to build on it keeping it NA. Not much, just a few upgrades. Would like to spend more money on handling, suspension, strut bars etc.. I'm a corners person these days. 8)

Just got rid of the cheap Achilles $130 tyres it had from Mag n Turbo and replaced with Bridgies RE001's. :)

The factory box looks pretty good with a factory cold air induction pipe running to behind the light. Will just be a case of putting a better flow panel in it if I go down that path.

Full intake is probably not necessary on the car being standard except for "noise factor"... 8)

I supplied the bits when the Aussies were playing with their Sportivo's a few years back.
As has been stated alread, there's a lot of information on the TOCA website.
Look up the posts of Peekay. He did about everything you could do, using TRD parts (and some others), without stripping the engine down, and he took the time to test and log all of his modifications.
In his post following fitting of the TRD CAI, with K&N filter, he claimed an 8Kw increase on the dyno.
We sold hundreds of these and all returned glowing reports.
